hey, i run x-country and want to start my training for track season pretty soon. Is there anyone out there that has good hard core work outs? I probably gonna be running distance. Maybe the 2 mile or mile. I'm not sure yet the only thing i really need help on is maybe my leg indurance, my cardio already works. But, all noledge and advise is more than appreciated. I run an average of low 18's for the 3 mile cross country.

i don't know much about x-country, but our workouts for long distance vary...usually a mile warmups and then a workout that can have pace laps or 800's and cool down. if one day i do around 3 pretty fast paced 800's then the next day i'll cool it and just run 3 miles..sorry if i just wasted ur time:S

I hope not to waste your time either but ill say what i know. I run xc and track too. We do all kinds of stuff. For xc u can do repeats of 800 or 1000 meters on a grass circuit, which is good cuz ull be racing usually on a varied circuit with uneven surfaces. Or for track workouts u can do repeat 800s like amy mentioned. U can also do lots of repeat 400s. Tempo runs are good too. Or even ladders(ex. 400, 800, 1200, 800, 400). Something like that. I run the mile and two mile too but ill probably try the 600 for this winter season.
