Okay, like probably everybody here I eat a lot of tuna. Probably about 2 cans a day. Its a great source of protien, with no carbs, no fat and its pretty cheap.

The problem is... Its gross by itself. I find it tastes like saw dust. I don't like mixing mayo with it, but recently I have been doing so to help me deal with eatting it so much.

As for now I am just making a tuna salad consisting of cut onions, pickles, green peppers and some diced cabbage/lettuce and a full can of tuna. Its not bad, but nothing to scream about.

Does anyone have any interesting, simple and tasty ideas to keep my tuna low fat/carb? Something to make it stay together better? Any receipes?

A friend of mine fishes the great northwest. He brought me back some of his smoked wild salmon. oobaby ooobaby oo oo baaaby. I am tempted to try smoking the tuna when this rare and delicate salmon treat runs out. We also keep a supply of fresh frozen shrimp. Buy it in season right off the boat and freeze it within 24 hours. It will taste the same 6 months later and the flavor makes me weep openly.

I normally eat my tuna with a little bit of Miracle Whip and either hot mustard or Worstcheshire sauce/A1. I've also mixed it with baked beans and a dash of BBQ sauce, which is good though too runny for a sandwich.

Try mixing roasted red peppers or hard boiled egg whites in and eating on a bed of spinach. Thats one of my favorite ways. I also use a teaspoon of light Italian dressing.

You can buy tuna in olive oil. It is very good. You may also try the tuna in the pouches, much better tasting than canned tuna(as far as tuna goes anyway.) You want some great ideas, then go here.

I mix my tuna with dill and ultra low fat ranch dressing. Fat free whipped cottage cheese also works if you would like something richer.

I mix it with a lot of mild salsa and then put it over a bed of lettuce. I hate the taste and texture of tuna...but, salsa greatly improves it. Just make sure you get a salsa low in sodium or better yet make it yourself. Hope this helps.

That site has lots of great ideas on it. I think I will try some of them... Though the tuna shake doesn't sound very appealing. The thought of eatting liquidfied tuna reminds me of something they would do on fear factor :P

Okay, so this sounds gross....but really it's not! I learned this from a guy my husband works with in the Air Force. Mix 1 can of tuna with 1/2 c (more or less if you prefer) fat free cottage cheese and 1 can pineapple chunks (drained of course...so there's no syrup) It's Awesome! You can put it on a bed of lettuce or just eat it plain. It's yummy and filling!

I watched a pretty good recipe for tuna on tv the other day. The actual recipe called for a lot of olive oil but I tried it without any of the olive oil and it was good.

2 cans of tuna
1 cup of white beans drained
roughly dice some purple onions
roughly dice some tomatoes
parsley
capers
whatever other fresh spices you want to put on it ... cilantro was excellent in it... as well as a little bit of lime.

It's not bad on the calories, proteins, carbos, and hardly any fat and it's wonderful!

I put it in here and it comes up to:
calories 722
proteins 89
carbos 83
fats 4 grams

Not bad! Hope you like it ...

Maybe you could try getting the solid white albacore tuna instead of the chunk light? The texture is definitely different...course, the price tag is too...

Tuna, squeeze of Lemon, splash of olive oil, red onions, peri peri sauce and some raisins - works for me! very nice......kinda like the salsa thing I guess

Also good mixed with some pesto and pasta for a very quick warm meal especially if you add some asparagus to the pasta when cooking so all ready in minutes.
