I plan on working out 4-5 times a week...how long should I be at the gym each day? I plan on doing one hour of cardio and a half hour of weights. I plan on working different muscle groups different days. Any particular order I should do them? I want to work basically all muscle groups. Which ones should I pair together on a particular day?
Thanks

Hi,

Once you have filledin your personal profile, answered all the questions, the site will tell you what days to work on what partof your body. I did read somewhere that around 30 to 45 minutes is a target for time spent in the gym per session.

All the best

naberaber,
I think this is best answered by adding the time you expect to be in the shower. Sorry, I couldn't resist. If you fill in your profile so we have an idea of what fitness level you are at there are many knowlegable folks who can help you. The exercise routines in FT are pretty good if you look them over and chose the one that best fits your goals.

I think you should reverse that. Do weights first, 45min to an hour and then do 20-40 minutes of cardio. Don't do cardio on the day you workout legs though. Always do cardio after weights, otherwise you are wearing yourself out before you even start the workout.

Hello naberaber,
After looking at your profile I am glad to see that you have stopped smoking and I think that you will find the nutrition guide (diet) here is not as restrictive, and perhaps easier to stick with, than fad diets. I also have fought depression in my life and know that the best medicine is exercise!! Be carfull if you are just starting an exercise program for the first time, or in a long time, 4-5 days a week coupled with school might burn you out and you don't want to loose moivation or overtrain. I have found that the exercise program, provided by FT to me, takes me about an hour and fifteen min. with warm up, streach, and exercise. I agree with azeredhead57 about switching your strength training and cardio around if you must do both on the same day
