I am pretty good with the workout stuff, it's the food that gets me.
what I want to know is if it is better for me, as a daily total, to strive for lower calories and carbs or to try for lower fat.
I am trying to lose weight, and usually when I do my intake totals for the day, I am either low on calories and carbs & high on fat, or low on fat & high on calories and carbs.
if it makes a difference, I only work out two days a week, because that is all my schedule allows.
thank you so much!

Ami, your body will need fuel for your workouts. It will either get them from carbs or fat. You can strive for lower calories/carbs, but soon your body will get used to it. You'll need to go on phases where you change your diet every 4 weeks or so. I say, stick with what works until it stops working...then, a small tweak should do the trick.
Good luck!

Its when and what you eat!! You can actually train your body to burn more calories by eating 5-6 small meals a day. So it is not so much about the daily total as opposed to when and what you eat . Make your body use what you consume by consuming it at the right time and in the right quantities.
