I'm looking to play JV football next year. Maybe a Fullback or OLB. Im just wondering how big (weight) and fast ( 40 time) i should be.
Thanks

I would say at 160 pounds and being 14, youre plenty big and strong...there are varsity defensive ends that are good at 160. its hard to say what kind of 40 time you would want, but for jv id say right around 5.2 to be pretty good. maybe a little quicker. Remember quickness, hand speed and reaction time are more important than size or speed.

A good college fullback is anywhere between 220-260. 4.7 40. How much do you weigh now? And, how fast are you? This is important so I don't just give you numbers that are unrealistic.

Gatormade, right now I weigh more or less 160 pounds, but I have no idea what my 40 time is. I'm not super strong but I'm pretty built, my max lifts are in my user profile. I'll do my best to find my 40 time..

To get an Idea of what you would need to be good, how big of a school are you from? there's a big difference between big schools and small schools.

I do not agree with the big school small school arguement. Shoot for the stars and you'll land on the moon. Be as good as you can be no matter how big or small your school is.

You are 100 percent right gatormade. My thinking was school size was important if you wanted to find a minimum baseline for size and speed and strength, but you're right, no one should shoot for the minimum.

Well when i was on JV, for my highschool , I played defensive end and i was 180lbs. and ran the 40 in the 5-5.6 range. I just finished my varsity season and the olb 's i knew weighed 165-170lbs. and ran a 4.6 40, but for JV, you dont need to be that fast , if you did you'd probably get moved up to varsity.
