20-30 pounds in 1-2 months is kind of extreme. However you can lose quite a bit in that time if you change your eating habits and begin a good fitness program soon. The first thing to do would be to get the 'junk' out of your diet. You know what I'm talking about. Cut back on the fatty foods and eliminate as much sugar as possible. ALWAYS start your day with breakfast doesn't have to be big but something. Consider eating smaller meals 5-6 times per day. Don't be fooled by reducing your calories too much, it will just slow your metabolism. You have to eat to lose but you have to eat the right kind of food. Lean meats, complex carbs, vegetables. Continue to walk or run, whichever you feel most comfortable with, try to build up your speed and time. Be consistent-start every other day and build up to every day-early in the day if possible. Now here is an important key to weight loss-begin a weight lifting program. You want to begin strengthening your muscles so they will burn fat. If you don't have weights look at some of the options here at ft, they will have you covered. These are just some quick points to consider but it should get you started. If you get into the service your gonna have to get in shape and eat right while in boot camp. So consider this time as pre-boot camp if you know what I mean. You will get alot of other suggestions many much better than mine but you sound like you needed some info quick. Good Luck.
