I was surprised by the large amount of calories that was calculated for me since my goal is to lose weight. I always thought "dieters" would be on a 1300 calorie intake. I have noticed in the few days that I've been working with the nutrition planner that meeting the protein and carb requirements, I'm eating alot more veggies/fruits that I had before...
Can anyone quelch my paranoia over 2900 calories a day???

This has been discussed at great lenght on other posts but let me see what I can do to help. First 1300 cals is nothng when you are working out. Secondly you actually need to eat to lose weight. But for a woman 2900 is high...I would start off with 2000-1800 cals a day. try to get at least .5-1gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. Split the 1800-2000 cals into 5 meals and eat. If you restrict you cals to low and exercise the body thinks it is in a starvation mode. So it slows your metabloism to a halt and you store what ever you eat in the easiest form---fat. That is why low cal dieters lose a lot of weight, it is all muscle. So what to do? Try to find that balance if you are lifting hard and doing cardio then you will build muscle which takes less space than fat. This means that while you will lose size you may actually gain weight. This is normal and good as the more muscle you build the more cals your burn just sitting. This in turn speeds up you metabloism and helps you lose the bodyfat and weight in the long run. Hope this helps!
