My name is "Jim"-well OK, my middle name is, anyway, and I am here for support and consistancy. I gained a bunch of weight when I was 22, just after losing 40 lbs. on slimfast. I also was about to be a new father. We had our son and seven weeks later he was killed in a car accident. That was in July and I weighed 260lbs. I didn't pay any attention to whatwent in my body, but in the stress of it all, I lost 40 lbs. from July to December. My weight has been pretty stable since, around 220-230. I have been in and out of shape ever since. I am much more muscular than I was in high school, but I weigh 50 lbs more than when I was in High School. I am trying to get in shape, and at the same time get down to at least 200lbs. That is what my doctor wants me to try to get below, as I am diabetic (type2) have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I have three kids (not including the one killed in the car accident- 4 counting him) ages 9,almost5, and 7 months. The doc says "do it for them". But I am confused to how much I should weigh because people tell my I don't look fat and that I have a good size for my body structure. My wife is content with what I look like, as well as a few other ladies she knows that like to talk about what they like about my body. (I am not trying to be coneited, that is what they have told me) I want to at least get down to 200, and then go from there. It would be really cool to find like minded, equally frustrated people to talk some of these things out with.

Hi Jim and welcome to freetrainers. You will find a lot of motivation here if you need it, providing you keep coming back. It is a big challenge to keep a healthy lifestyle and anyone can do it. The exercising releives alot of stress, and the good eating habits keep us alive longer. I am sure if you try a program from here at FT, you will see progress.

Welcome Jim. As you will find there are a number of Forms to have open discussions with others, be it about health, and just to chat. Plus the motivation offered is great. Belief me when I say that regardless on how others think we look, it is always good to add a healthy life style and some good exercise to out lives, especially to relieve stress. As carivan said keep coming back.
