I just bought Prolab Creatine Monohydrate and it says to take it twice daily after you load it up. I just want to know if I should take it twice on my non-workout days, and if I should take it twice on non-workout days, what are the best times to take it. Thank you.
Oh and I am 15 years old, 5'6" and I weigh 130 pounds. |

I know this isn't what you want to hear but, I wouldn't suggest creatine use just yet. you're still growing so let the natural growth come out first before you try creatine. Since i am 17 i believe i can relate to you... Many kids a well as myself think that creatine will get you huge yes you see some imporovements but no that much. I started to take it at 16. There is also to much hype created about this although i have to say it does increase your strenght and stamina i am taking now again shortly so i can keep up with harsh basketball practices. listen to jdelts let your body grow first then take it.

I don't think creatine would be a big issue for high school kids.
There's no need to cycle it. There's also no need to load it (you've got plenty of time). As for times to take it, morning and post-workout would be good. |

Shane 123...you have a good point about the cycling part but I disagree with you on creatine not being an issue. Hear me out; at fifteen years old it is safe to say that the person has not reached his or her overall maximum growth potential. What I was suggesting was for joe_s to lift for a couple of years or so, his hormoane levels are through the roof and taking creatine at that point probably won't make much of a difference except empty out a bank account. I'm not saying in any way that it may be harmful(but everything has a risk involved), but I was fifteen once and thought taking supps was the answer to growth. No, creatine may not be a big issue for high school kids who are 17,18 years old, but fifteen, with little training experience, may not be a good idea.

Creatine is safe and effective regardless of age. Granted, it may be less effective in some segments of the population (including children) than others, but it should still be effective nonetheless. It's also dirt cheap.

Did a search and found very little on the subject of creatine and teens (just vague mentions that teens shouldn't use it). The only arguement I can see as valid, though I'm not a big fan of it, is that someone should get training and nutrition down before getting into supplementation. Otherwise, I've never heard any reason for any male to fear creatine, unless they have medical problems. Even the supp companies don't seem worried.

NO....I wasnt saying it was to be feared or dangerous, I was saying that it may not be a good idea at this point seeing he has a couple of more years of pure hormonal growth left in him....get down the muscle base and diet, THEN consider taking it. Shane123, you may be at a different level than joe_s and taking creatine may work for you. But when you metabolism and your body's response to muscle growth is still in an early stage, people may not take to creatine that well. He's got probably up to 8 more years of pure hormonal growth left. As such, I wouldn't advise PH's, but creatine and protein at the very least are part of a solid routine at some point.
I agree that if someone expects it'll magically transform them they're mistaken. That goes for pretty much anything (any supplement, any exercise, any diet), though. Generally supplement companies will do whatever it takes to prevent a lawsuit. That comment was in regard to safety for younger people. If there was even remote fear of that, they'd plaster it all over the place that it shouldn't be used by those under 18 or 21 or what have you. |

That stuff makes me bloat and hold alot of water...I use Cellmass Creatine Ethyl Ester...No water bloat.
