I am currently working out 5 days a week. I do chest and tris on Monday and Thursday. Shoulders and bis on Tuesday and Friday. And back and legs on Wednesday. I lift heavy on chest and shoulders, but with bis and tris I just try and burn them out. I do 3 to 4 exercises for each body part. I am just wondering if I am overtraining my muscles with this schedule?

General consensus is to train a muscle group only once every 5-7 days. Are you getting results? How long have you been doing this? Is it just a change from another schedule? How do you feel?

Another imprtant factor is, how long have you been lifting? Because the longer you lift, the more your body will be able to adapt to the stress you put on it.

I've been lifting for about 6 months. I've seen some definite gains. I started this schedule about 2 months ago, and feel good when I get done. I've been told you only need 48 hours of recovery time for each muscle. I'm just concerned that I'm overtraining, for example you use other muscles than just your chest when working your chest. Like affecting your biceps when you work your chest, then working out your biceps the next day. Although I feel no signs of fatigue. Just wanted some more opinions on it.

Everyone is right...if you are going heavy, like you say you are, you NEED to give those muscles more rest time. 48 hours is a good recovery time for LIGHT weight training, and even that is pushing it.
