ok....here goes.... soon i'm about to try and start a "cut" phaze i'm just wanting to get rid of a lil eaxtra winter padding lol........now i knwo i need to cut carbs is the easiest way and it wokrs best for me. As of know though my diet is very healthy 3 nice meals and 3 snakes, i eat lots of chicken, lean beef, and lean pork, whey and eggs for my protein sources......i eat plenty of veggies a day3 to 4( brockoli, carots, peas, yams, green beans, spinish u name it i eat it......and i try to eat 1 or 2 pieaces of fruit( if not fruit 100% orange juice, or v8 splash....carb sources are whole weat breads, yams, oatmeal, low fat penut butter, or nuts ( on accasion)
Now i dunno my actually caloric intake but its some where around 3000 if i was to take a wild guess i eat about 270 grams of protein a day( i weigh 248)
now hers my problem with the low carb diet.........i am a very active person on wed and fridays i do a double spilit workout ( one in morning and one in afternoon) and also 3 times a week i have cheerleading practice, and i have to walk all over campus at school.........my problem is if i cut my carbs low i feel like i can't make it threw the day an di wind up falling asleep in class or i feel slugish at practice( trust me when ur throwing girls up in the air i can't be slow lol).........soo any suggestions for getting rid of fat with the carb crashing?????

p.s sorry so long just wanted to feel u guys in

I have no idea, but I am really curious to see what other people have to say. I wouldn't say cut out the carbs completely, just cut back for a while. Losing weight isn't about cutting carbs or not, its about cutting calories.

You do not need to go "low carb". YOu can lose plenty bodyfat with just a caloric reduction. The low carb diet is a "tool" we use toward the tail end of comp training. In order to tap into fat stores, you must create a caloric deficit. This can be achieved by cutting calories, 250 a day is a good number to start at, do this till weight loss begins. Do it slowly, your body will react very swiftly with a large muscle loss if you go too rapidly, or cut carbs drastically. You may also add cardio or increase the intensity of your workouts to help with this caloric deficit. You will want to ditch the fruit, orange juice, V8, etc. These are not conducive to fat loss. Fruit tops off liver glycogen, and dieting you want to direct all calories toward muscle glycogen. Fruit is basically wasted calories when on this type diet(hard core fat burning). Add healthy fats (this is a must) toward the evenings, this is much better served than any fruit or drinks. Lowers insulin resistance, and helps metabolize fat, plus many other wonderous things. Also carrots, peas, and corn are not the best veggies to eat trying to cut. You want fibrous leafy green veggies.

Another good idea is to plan your meals according to your upcoming ativity level. If your not planning on doing much cut back on the carbs, & if your going to be active carb up a little. If your depending on the shakes prior to activity you migh be in trouble. The drinks are going to cause an insulin spike which will be followed by a blood sugar crash, it is crucial to eat slow releasing carbs prior to activity & avoid any high gi sources such as sugars (shakes, fruit, & juice is full of them) you'll find at times you can live with very little carbs & feel fine, other times you'll crash (this is your body telling you to consume more) listen to your body & feed it accordingly.

i wouldn't cut the calories at all at first. eat the same amount.. just do it in even more meals... like eat in 8 meals what you would usually have in 6... jump start your metabolism by doing as little as 10 minutes of cardio in the morning, or take even less time between your sets instead. just some advice that has worked for me before... see what you think.

You cut your calories from your overall caloric range. That is, if you are doing a 50/20/30 p/c/f for instance, you would chop off your calories in an equal amount to keep that ratio intact. This way it is not a shock to the body, which will result in an immediate muscle loss. You want a slow controlled loss, 1 lb. per week is ideal, 2 at the most. Anything more and you are most likely losing muscle. If you do it right, there is no reason you can't get to 14% bf, and keep your muscle.
