Before my hubby left for Iraq I was a sexy 221 pounds (I was pregnant but a 80 pound weight gain was still not right) I have gotten down to 155 (25yrs old 5'4"), can't seem to drop anymore so I am officially starting this plan on Monday. My goal is to be down to atleast 140 before he gets home in March, will this be possible, any extra hints? Any "you can do it!"s would be wonderful.

As the others said, very much doable. A good sensible workout and diet plan, as here on this site, will get you there with no problem. We are here to help, feel free to ask any questions you may have.

So I was told to increase my calories from what I am taking now 1200, up to 2065 gradually. This may sound like a dumb question but how gradually, 100 calories a day, 500 a week? Adding so many calories to my diet still scares me, but I am gonna do this.....yup, my hubby won't be able to resist.

Thats how it is done, gradually, but make sure these calories come from Protein, good carbs and good fat in that order.

There are several ways to accomplish the increase. I will give you an example based on what I did. It took me awhile but it was worth it. First, I got my requirements straight. My source was this web site. Then I kept up with what I ate, breaking each meal down, so I had an idea of my p/c/f. Then I adjusted accordingly. I had to eliminate some foods altogether. I made healthy substitutions for some. I added new healthy recipes as I found them (See nutrition and specific diets section). I even had to increase serving sizes in some instances. As for gradually increasisng: My first week I began eating an early breakfast. I added that and increased my daily intake by 250 calories or so. The next week I substituted my 'normal' egg and sausage hot pocket which I ate mid-morning to a healthier homemade egg and cheese on whole grain toast and so on. That way may body got used to it. And let's face it it's a pretty big task to transform your diet. Make small changes here and there. After a couple of weeks evaluate your progress and adjust if needed. It takes time to do it right.

As you are doing this gradually, if you start to see a weight gain that you don't think is muscle, then level off. The harder and more often your workouts, the more calories you need becasue you are burning more. Congrats on the weightloss and surprising your hubby with a brand new wife. I am doing the same. Mine has only been over there for 6 weeks, but will come home in April for 2 weeks. I don't think he will know me. I am already down one size since he left and look a lot different.

Thank you azredhead57 it is wonderful to know someone is doing something for some of the same reasons just like me, it's nice to be in a group. You just made my whole day! My doc tells me that my weight loss should be for my health, which it is. However, feeling sexy for my husband makes me feel wonderful inside. I have never bought anything from Victoria's secret because of the way I felt about my body. I am looking forward to completely and irresponsibly wasting my paycheck there when I hit my goal. :)
