In the past month I worked at a Tyson Chicken plant in south east Missouri and I am happy so tell all of you that it was a very clean inviroment and they were very adament about cleaniness. Three cheers for Tyson and the way they handle my number one protein source.

Good deal! That's always good to hear. My goodness can you imagine how clean they'd have to be in a chicken plant? Wow!

I watched a cooking show a while back that said it's SO much cheaper to just buy a whole chicken and cut it yourself so I checked it out and I donno it kinda averages out the same. By the time you put all that work into cutting it it's worth it to just buy it already cut. Unless you wanna break the wish bone hehe.

Tysons in S.E Missouri? Where do you live Sandy? There's a Tysons right here in Sedalia, MO too. I've thought about going to work there. Is it a good company to work for?

Pauline, I live 25 miles south of St. Louis, but I had to go to my mom's for awhile and needed to work. I asked them about a plant in St. Louis and they told me about the one in Sedalia. Good place to work?, Wet and Cold, Benefits are great, pay is Okay. I worked in the chicken breast part, trimming. Not hard work.

No those birds come in alive, plucked, skinned trimmed, package, then frozen to those perfect little chicken breast that you pay a fortune for.

although they do have a cook plant right next door where they prepare those nasty little breaded leftover breast that are mangled in the process of plucking, skinning, and not properly trimmed. Your right Yuck!!!!

I buy the breasts or tenderloins frozen in the bag. Very covenient. Don't even have to thaw em out. Just throw em in the oven or on the grill. Kind of pricey though.

heheh Chicken is chicken. What's the difference in eating a perfect breast and eating a mangled breast? It's still meat isn't it ? lol That sounded horrible!

Here is one for you, do you know that they use every part of the chicken there, They grind up the feathers and use them as chicken feed, The skin is sent to Cambell's for Chicken soup, bones, beaks and all other unedible parts are ground into cat food. I saw the cat food being made, OMG, YUCK, I will never eat Chicken noodle soup again unless it is home made.

Sure, any food that renders you unconscious because of the pain of passing a chicken beak must be considered comforting. :D
