Kay, I think I understand now, So I am to have mainly a protein intake with some carbs before my work out, do I wait a certain amount of time for this mini-meal to digest before I work out? how long should it be? how many cals should this be? or does that depend on my height, weight, age and all the good stuff? basics, I am 140, 5'2 and 23....yup thats about it this time...thanx a bunch-a-roos!

Your amount of calories should be dependent on your calorie range. A minimal amount is needed, no big meal. In fact something like an MRP, or even a 1/2 of one will be nice.

One note of consequence here. My posts cater to the more advanced that are looking to be better, that have been training for a while, and looking to take things up a notch. When you first start, anything will work. So don't be concerned. Now, if you have been doing this a while, and are training with intensity and want to crank it up a notch, then these guidelines are for you.

If not, "just do it!"
