Hi, I am new member as of today. I have been exercising regularly for just about a year. I'm 6' 2"/35 yrs old and in January I weighed 202 pounds of pure flab and my blood pleasure was skyrocketing. I went for a physical and the doctor said he needed me to drop 10 pounds and start exercising to try and control the blood pressure. This was just the kick in the butt that I needed. I immediately went to low fat everything and started to run 6 times a week. By mid march I got my weight down to 177 pounds. This was great the flab was gone but then I looked like a board. I decided to join the local gym and started weight training in April.
My goal was to build lean muscle mass. I set a goal to hit 190 pounds by September. With dedication and hard work I hit this goal. Today I am at 195 pounds. Mostly muscle. I gained a little bit of flab in the waist which I have been told is normal when trying to bulk up. I will try to cut this down in the spring. However, I am having a lot of fun doing it. I look and feel great.
I look forward to reading all the training information this board has to offer and the advice of all of you.
You're gonna make it happen, and you're gonna do it by listening to the people here so that you don't make any mistakes or waste any effort. I am very thankful that I started off at a gym last year with a personal trainer (they offered 4 free hours with enrollment) and then I bridged the gap after my training was over with this website.
Overall, I feel like I've wasted very little effort compared to how much a normal person might "stumble around" in the gym and at the grocery store before getting it right. Stick to what you read here, and at other reputable sites, and understand that the voices of experience speak here, not just people with degrees or psycho-babble motivational coaches. Tried, tested, true...they'll take your hand and walk you directly into success.
Go get'em tiger ;)
