Every so often, I'm sure you notice something about yourself (other than the fit but exhausted image in the mirror) that takes you on a quantum leap into your actual level of progess since those weaker days.
Example: Lastnight, I'm helping my brother-in-law bring in gallons of water. I'm holding 3 in my right hand and 2 in my left. No big deal, right, cuz it's only about 24lbs. in the right and 16lbs. in the left. However, it felt so light that I just stood there, comfortably, waiting for him to organize some containers for the jugs to go in. Not even a twinge of discomfort. He looked at me after a few minutes and sort of jumped back out of my way, as if I should be gasping for relief! Instead, I did a few lateral raises with my arms fully extended while still holding the jugs. THAT'S a moment for me; I have gained ALOT of strength in the past 18 months. I have two such stories. One is that I used to bentrows and thought 135 was sooo heavy. This past jan I realized that I was now warming up with that weight. Also I thought 185 for deadlifts was so heavy. Now i warm up with 225. It is such a neat feeling to make those kinds of gains!!!-------------- LIFT HEAVY! BECOME STRONG, LIKE BULL! |

The one I always love is when you go to the doctor for your check-up and after all is said and done he says, "Everything is fine. Weight good, Cholesterol good, BP good." After so many years, that is real progress for me.

When i started squatting for really the first time, i was squatting 95 lbs to start with and squatting 125 on my 4th set.
Now, I start at 135 as a warmup. Its only been 5 weeks! Talk about some progress!!!! Also, my shoulder strength has extraordinarily increased. |

OOOhhhh, I gotta good one. First and foremost, I lift for me, BUT it is always cool when an ex-girlfriend sees you after a few years of transformation. About 4 years ago when I was with my ex, I weighed 235 and was into the eating and powerlifting thing, so I was 'rounded'. She sucked...but 4 years later(even though I'm happily involved with my current girlfriend), I lost about 50 lbs for a bodybuilding show, so I looked pretty darn good(if you don't mind me saying so). I'm friends with a friend of my ex's and I sent this friend a couple of pics of me from the show...FYI...she passed the pics on to my ex and she was all full of jealousy. Sometimes its the petty and shallow things in life that make me happy. :-) Since the show I've gained 30lbs., though. :-( -------------- WISE MAN SAY: ONLY FOOLS DON\'T LIFT |

When I tried cardio for the first time it was on a treadmill. My trainer said "do 5 min at 2.5mph no incline".
I was on the machine thinking how boring this was after the 1st minute and looking forward to my next cigarette. When I got off the machine, I was so exhausted, was dizzy and had to sit down. My HR was up at 185, and I thought I was gonna die. Today, it takes 10 min to get my hr up to 138 and ready to break a 9 min mile. And of course..no cigarettes. -------------- "A will finds a way" Ivan Montreal Canada |

All I know is that I use to finish before I started, and now I can rep. out, rest for 2-5 minutes, and do it all over again. Read into that whatever you want...Hahaha...

For those who have read my getting stronger thread they'll know that my benchmarks have included my squat and my leg press. I used to think squatting over 225 was impossible but recently I've been squatting 415 and my leg press is at 1215 lbs.
The best though is the look I get from my family and the comments made about my size. I've always wanted to be big and I guess I'm accomplishing that goal. Oh, the best though was the neighborhood kid who called me Stone Cold after the pro wrestler. -------------- The meek shall inherit the Earth, but the strong and muscular will carry them through it!
