Anyone try the Labrada Lean Body Gold bars? I had the caramel almond fudge bar. Went to the Blues game last night, and meal time fell within this time. This bar matched my meal for this time fairly closely. Very tasty too. Pretty decent ingredients, 30 gr. of protein(Whey Isolate, Cassein, Soy Isolate, Calcium Casseinate.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... |

I haven't tried that bar yet, bb1, but Labrada has always been famous for carrying only the highest of quality products, especially with label quality control. Very good rep.-------------- Michael Trample the weak; hurdle the dead! Chaos, Panic, Disorder.... Yes, my work here is done! |

Cliff bars are an excellent high carb source for fuel.

wait, so that one bar replaced an entire meal for you? so like, when people say that they eat five meals a day or whatever, does the protein bar they have after they work out count? heh, if that's the case i guess i'm eating one too many meals, according to my diet...

I have found the premier nutrition protein 8 bars to be tasty. They have 30g of protein and only 1 gram of sugar if you get the chocolate coconut. Since I am diabetic I love them a protein bar that isnt going to kill my control.-------------- I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. Pimple (heh, nice name by the way), Yes a protein bar can count as one meal but usually its one of the smaller meals. You do want 5-6 meals a day usually breakfast, lunch, dinner being the largest and then 2-3 more inbetween those meals. This is where a protein bar would be ideal. Don't think that a protein bar could replace one of the bigger meals. It all depends on what kind of diet your are on too.
Also, I wouldn't rely on protein bars as an inbetween meal that much...while some may be high in quality protein like the one BB1fit mentioned above, many are filled with junk. They can also be pricey. |

I tried the Labrada lean body italian amaretto fudge and it was one of the better protein bars i've tried.
I also like the premier nutrition 3 bars. There is a store round my place that sell's them for .75 a piece. |

I'm into Tri-o-plex bars lately, they all have 30+ gs of protein, but they are a little high in fat, about 7 gs. Out of all the bars I've tried, however, these ones rule in the taste category.

Just got some of the Lean body gold bars carmel almond fudge flavor. Whoa, these are extrememly good. I'm trying to save them for times when I can't get a good meal but it's hard to resist. I also got some Optimum Nutrition complete protein diet Mint Chocolate for 15 dollars or so. It comes with 15 bars each containing about 20g pretty high quality protein...alot of protein isolate instead of wpc. Anyway, the first initial taste is like girl scout mint chocolate cookies but the after taste is pretty bad. However, for the price and the quality protein, its worth it. Just a heads up for anyone looking for protein bars.
If you have the money, go for the lean body gold bars, cost roughly 20-24 bucks online after shipping if you shop around. I got mine from dpsnutrition.com |

What are the ingredients for the 25 cent bars? If it starts out with WPC, thats whey protein concentrate. While this isnt bad, the high quality protein bars/shakes are ones that start off with isolates (ie: whey protein isolate, soy protein isolate). I think it has something to do with the absorbtion process. Isolates have the highest absorbtion. For instance, your body may only absorb 25g of a 30g protein bar/shake that is mostly Whey Protien Concentrate. But for 25 cents, even if it is mostly WPC, its still a good deal.
next thing you need to look at is sugar |

this is the bar they sell (they have other flavors as well):
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000537AF/102-0906900-1292111?v=glance&me=ATVPDKIKX0DER also... this store is located in SLC (utah), and most of the stuff they sell is real real cheap like that... my mom heard about this place a couple of months ago so that's where she buys our meat now... a lot of their food is kind of old, though, and i once saw a box of yogurt that said "use by: jan 2000" on it... so since we were in the year 2004, i didn't have to think much about why they were selling them for 99c... of course, the protein bars are new and healthy, and they have a lot of viarity... but the protein plus one is teh one i usually stock on... they also have bottles of creatine for 10 - 20 dollars, but i don't really use creatine, so i can't comment on the quality of it... so yeah, not a lot of people in utah know about that place, which is good since i can buy all of them bars for myself.... peace out... -------------- 8.3 http://www.hotornot.com/r/?eid=GEKZGLA&key=RLE |

I have had them before, they are tasty, but I am not fond of the 23 gr. of sugar per bar.
