For some reason my instant message thread was not working so I figured I would just post the question. Cell-tech has all the goodies involved in creating an effective insulin spike, BUT it contains a butt-load of Chromium picolinate which as we all know, regulates insulin and kinda tries to balance things out in the body. Now, will this take away from an insulin spike or will the chromium help me so I won't 'crash' and feel like crap after my insulin spike?

No, it is fine. Cell tech is good, but it is way overpriced. You would be better off with dextrose/malto mixture of your own, and chromium is very cheap.
Chromium can help anytime. As you may know, depletion of chromium can compromise muscular developement, lean body mass, proper carb utililizaton, and maybe the main thing your are concerned with here, glycogen storage and insulin sensitivity. You want insulin sensitivity over insulin resistance to make your post workout drink all that much more effective.

What I like about Cell-Tech is the alpha lipoic acid which helps create that insulin spike. But for some, this causes a slightly burning sensation in the throat. It takes some getting used to.
However, as Ron mentioned, it is WAY OVERPRICED!

Robert, ALA is very useful, and you are right in a way, but really only if it is r-ala, rather than the cheaper s-ala. If it is not r-ala, it is virtually useless. ALA in itself does not create an insulin spike. It mimics insulin. It is good as a standalone supplement. Studies show that ALA increases Glut-4 transporters on the outside of muscle cells. This means more glucose can be shuttled into muscle cells and away from fat cells. Studies show that the amount of glucose shuttled to your muscles can increase from 50-60%. For those who are not that good in math: This means if you ate 100 carbs and originally without ALA, 40 grams of glucose went to your muscles cells and the rest, 60 grams, went to fat cells. Now, by supplementing with ALA, you have the power to send 60 grams of glucose and only 40 to fat cells.
ALA has an insulin mimicking effect. Again, due to the increase in glucose uptake by muscles cells, less glucose is stored as fat. ALA also lowers your blood sugar levels, creating a more suitable atmosphere for fat burning.
It is best utilized as a standalone supplement. Results will differ depends on your diet. If you are bulking, you can expect to less fat and more muscle gain because of ALA nutrient partitioning effect.
Results from cutting are increased fat loss and a muscle sparing effect. Because your muscles are storing more glucose, your muscles will not become as depleted as they usually do when cutting. This helps you look full and not flat.
A good doseage may be 100 gr. per 30 gr. of carbs or 10 gr. of creatine.
Again, you will come out much cheaper with dextrose/malto/protein mixture of your own, and get r-ALA which is also relatively cheap.

BB1..again, thank you for your input. Price is no factor bacause I used to be a supervisor at my local GNC and my buddies still work there so you know how it goes. I should be getting the malto and dex in the mail soon though.

Thanks for the additional info. Ron. I'm not sure which is in Cell-Tech or in any of the other competing products.
