Hmmm...can you do pushups while on your knees? This will probably work the appropriate area better since you will have gravity as resistance (standing up will provide very little resistance, if at all).
As far as the other exercise, sounds like a tricep exercise? Off the top of my head, a replacement would be trying to do these standing up on a higher surface such as a table. You may not get full range of motion, but the angle may afford you to at least do them painlessly. Of course, if you position your hands closer together during pushups, you'll work triceps as well.
