Hi everyone. I posted a message earlier, but didn't get any replies. I'm in need of serious help. I want to gain about 30 to 40 pounds. I'm 5'11 weigh between 125 and 130. My ideal weight is about 160 to 165. I'm a little confused as to what I should be eating and what shouldn't eating and what I should be lifting and not be lifting. I know i can do this just need help. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks
Welcome to ft. Glad to have you back from your tour and thank you for your service. If you have been searching the boards you probably know the answer to your question. To gain weight you have to eat more than you burn. In order to keep the extra calories from becoming fat you need to eat the right foods and engage in exercise that builds muscle i.e. weightlifting. Consider the following 1) up your daily intake of food. Just guessing I would say 2500-2700 per day, maybe more. Do this gradually. Try to get your calories in 5-6 meals per day instead of 2-3 meals. 2) Stick with lean meats, complex carbs, good fats. You need at least 1 gr. protein per lb of body weight. Search the message boards for diet info (search fit buddy for 'bodybuilders grocery list'), better yet get a nutritional profile from this site. It will give you some numbers to shoot for. 3) Sign up for a weightlifting program here at ft. They have some good ones whether you want to get lean or build mass. However, you can lift all the weights in the world but if you don't get your diet right you won't get the results you're after. Search the boards, get informed, and get to it. If you don't understand something, ask. Someone here will help you out. Good Luck
