Hi all.
I have recently started weight lifting but when I do bench press, dumbell flies, squats, situps or anthing that involves me lying on my back.. I have a 'massive' arch in my lower back so big that a bus can pass through it...lol. Fom my understanding the back has to be flat for all this exercises. I feel that I am missing something as there is a slight tension in my lumbar spine and round the hip joint. Is this normal for starters and if not how can I overcome this? I would appreciate any help or advice....
thx...;)

It might help to put your feet on the bench. I seem to have the same problem, as well.

You might have to decrease the amount of weight you are using.

My wife is short and has difficulty reaching the floor with her feet. If this is the case use books or boards to put your feet on.
If not...lower the weight and work on your form. Feet on the floor is best and safest.
