Hi,
I'm a beginner! I'm 23, female, weight around 130 and height around 5'5. I'm a vegetarian (no animal products at all, no flesh, eggs or dairy!). I'm trying to loose weight and tone my body. I'm trying to have around 130g of protein a day, but it's really hard. I can't get enough protein without going past my calorie limit! I tried having losts of beans, but they made me too gasy and bloated! It made me gain more then loose! I do take a soy protein supplement, but I don't have the money to take alot of it everyday! Unless I can find a quality that has like 50g of protein per serving with low calories, not like the whey! I sure don't want to get bigger, I want to get smaller and have more muscle! I don't have a job right now! I won't be able to find a job for inleast 6 months because of health problems! I exercise everyday! I do inleast 30min-60min. I do the Firm tapes. It's aerobics and weights combined! I like to do this because it wakes my body up and gets me going for the day! I notice if I stop exercising everyday, then I start gaining it back! If I'm trying to loose weight and tone my body, what diet should I follow? The mass building or the weight loss? Sorry so long! Thanks in advance! Melindaxl |

Try soy milk and adding nuts to dihes. You can also check out the supplements page. I just found a few interesting high protein, low carb foods. -------------- It's not what we eat or drink occasionally, but what we consume on a daily basis that determines our ongoing level o health. formerfatguy.com Not sure of author |

Sorry, I was trying to get back to the front page and I'm one that likes using the back button, I quess you dont to that here!
Is there anything wrong with eating more than one or two servings of whole grain cereals a day when your trying to loose weight and tone? I notice it lowers my fat intake, and also has good nutrients and protein in it too! Could someone give me an idea how I could eat everyday to see improvement in myself! Because tell you the truth I'm so upset at my self, I don't even want to get out of the house, until I feel better about how I look! Because my cloths used to be huge on me and they just keep getting smaller and smaller on me now! It really depresses me because I'm trying my best, but seeing no improvement! Here is how I've been eating! Breakfast 4 oranges and 1 soy protein drk. Lunch lettuce cucumber,g.pepper & peas & 1 serv.oatmeal Snack 1cup soy milk w/ 1 cup grapenuts Supper (big)lettuce, cabbage, cucumber,g.pepper, peas & broc. Snack 1cup soy milk w/1 serv.oatmeal |

You didn't get this way over night, melindaxl. Be kind to yourself and allow this new lifestyle time to work. Your stats don't make you sound overweight at all. Start using a tape measure more than scales to measure progress. Lift as heavy as you can. Do your cardio, work on your diet. You will be fine.-------------- Living well is the best revenge. Thanks Charlie, it's just last year I was down to a size 2 and now I'm going back up! I found out though that the reason why I got that small was because I was starving my self and still working out! I mean I was only having around 500 calories a day! I was eating only raw fruits! Like every meal was like 1 apple or a orange! My minerals got so low though that I ended up in the hospipal! I will tell you though I didn't mean to do this! I was trying the raw diet and I didn't know how much to eat, and now I know you have to eat alot and I mean alot! That's why I can't eat raw because I end up starving myself and my body stores everything as fat!
I will say though that I never felt so pretty in all my life like I did then! For once I didn't have to cover my stomach when I sat down, I could wear nice fitted clothes without feeling fat, etc. Sorry so long! Just wanted you all to understand why it's kind of hard on me! I want to feel that pretty again! Thanks for your time! Melindaxl |

Melindaxl, your posts concern me. If you only weigh 130lbs now and you're 5'5 and you feel fat...I hate to say it but, it's probably because you lost a lot of muscle through your past dieting.
Can I tell you, I did the raw food diet also. I didn't stop there though...I also did the macrobiotic, adkins, ...the list goes on and on and on. I even did a 12 day ultimate cleanse fast/diet for 12 days. I wasted money on diet pills. I'm so glad that phase of my life is over that caused me to have a sluggish metabolism. Now after 10 months of workingout regularly people comment on how fast my metabolism is...this girl eats...but, I don't look like it 'cause I eat the right foods and workout. Just keep reminding yourself that you are taking care of yourself and you are treating your body right..feel good about that. No more negative comments about yourself...they don't help. Treat yourself right. |

Thanks so much Taurie, that really helps, since we have been in about the same spot!
Taurie could you tell me what you eat and how you exercise everyday? It would really get me started! And do you think I'm eating right or if I should add anything to my diet or take away from my diet? Thanks again! Melindaxl |

These are the types of posts that prove FT works!! Have patience Melindaxl, there's alot to learn but not alot to lose. Taurie has a great point in that losing muscle can lead to fat gain. Good luck!-------------- May the lift be with you. |
