I am officially switching off of the Atkins diet and onto my own plan. I guess I would call it a "lower carb south beach diet that doesnt worry too much about fats". I am avoiding transfats/saturated but not planning on buying reduced and low fat stuff. It is just too high in carbs and I find myself still hungry from them.
Here is my eating plan its really not too different from what i do now, except I am lowering the fat some, increasing my protein, and counting calories. I chose 1700 calories because I want to weigh my goal is to weigh around 149 by June. I am working out just about every day as well (workout consists of 40 minutes Elyptical-Ab work-Light Strength Training).
Here is the plan....
5 meals/snacks a day 2 low GI meals, 1 high GI meal, 2 protein snacks
1700 calories per day
100 Grams of Carbs per day (all complex carbs)
Not too concerned about fats (limiting saturated/transfats)
Breakfast - Low GI (Eggs)
Mid morning snack - Low GI (Nuts)
Lunch - Low GI (Big Salad with meat)
Mid Afternoon snack - Protein packed! Just got Optimum Nutrition's whey protein. After this snack I generally go workout.
Dinner - Med-High GI (post workout)(Whole Wheat Pasta/All Bran etc)
Evening Snack - Fruit
What do you guys think?

I would suggest adding some fibrous carbs.
Other than the nuts, which is considered a fat, you didn't list how you'd be getting the approx. 60 grams of fat needed to meet your caloric requirements.
I would also suggest taking a protein shake after your weight training. Wait about an hour, then eat your meal.

Fibrous Carbs...hahaha....can never have too many of those. I would count veggies as a fibrous carb. Lately Ive been mixing flaxseed into my yogurt. I have a ton of foods I just wanted to list one or two as example. Eggs do contain fat, so do milk, cheese, etc etc.
Perhaps I should do one shake pre workout and one post. Just out of curiousity what it the benefit of it?
