I noticed when my mom would make baked beans or porken Beans with supper they wouldn't bother me like the other beans (red kidney, pinto, black-eye-peas). The other beans would make me so bloated that I would get a stomach ack! I hate it that it's baked beans and porken beans because there in a sauce with some sugar and a little of fat, but they don't bother me (no bloat or stomach ack at all!) I don't understand this, there beans too!
Are these beans bad, when trying to loose weight and fatty inches? Thats the only fat I get is from the beans, because the rest of the protein I have is 8 egg whites (fat free ) and soy protein shake (fat free). The rest of my food is 4 raw acid fruits, raw vegetables and some cooked green vegetables! I only use sweetener and little of salt for condaments! I'm trying to gain muscle and loose fat, but I've been doing this for a little more then a week and I don't see any improvement! Now in the morning sometimes I feel my biceps and shoulders like there tightening up or something! I don't know maybe I'm still not working out hard enough! I do like 45-60min. of aerobics with weights! I do the Firm tabes! I am going to start using light ankle weights when I do my cardio because I need my thy muscles to work harder! When I do cardio, I feel I get nothing out of it! I'm doing 50 lunges on each leg and 50 squats four-five times a week! The other days I do arm lifts! I'm trying to raise my metabolisum, but I'm not for sure if it's working! I have around 1600 calories a day! I type it in at fitday.com and it's normally more then 1500! Am I having too much calories? I weight 130lbs. and I'm 5'5! I'm not really concerned about my weight, it's my size, I'm concerned about! I want to be small again! Sorry so long! That is because legumes like black beans, red beans, black eyed peas and such are loaded with fiber. Beans are excellent as a fibrous carb(not pork and beans).
Beans are legumes, along with lentils and peanuts. All varieties of beans have roughly the same great aount of nutrients. Their main one is folic acid, a B vitamin that helps regulate levels of homocysteine, a risk factor in heart disease. Beans are also very healthy soluble fiber, which may aid in lowering cholesterol. They are very low glycemic also. Even canned beans are fine. Most beans are canned in water they are cooked in, so any minerals that may have been lost during cooking are reabsorbed. If you use canned beans, simply add the canning water for a little extra nutrition. (Be aware the liquid may contain some of the indigestible sugars(will not hurt you) and this is what leads to more gas.) -------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... |

One more note, beans are an inferior(incomplete) source of protein. Adding some grains with them will fix this if you have no meat.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... |

Thanks so much bb1fit, that makes me feel good, knowing that any bean is good! I am going to say though that I can't add any grains or any complex carbs because that is what my body loves to store as fat! I decided to only have fiber carbs (few fresh fruits and some green veggies)and protein (egg whites, beans, little nuts and soy protein).
I notice every time I have complex carbs, I seem to feel bigger and look bigger than I was a week ago! So I decided to stay away from them! So I just stick to beans that are easier to digest and I have no problem with the others! Thanks so much for your time! Have a great day! CHARLIE! I love your post! You remind me so much of my dad! I hope you got from my post NO PORK AND BEANS! All the other beans mentioned are loaded with fiber and cannot possibly be your weight culprit.(unless you are eating tons of them I guess)...1/2 cup to 3/4 cup should be great for your fat loss.

bb1fit, I don't really understand what you mean! Are you meaning not to have any pork & beans? The pork & beans I get in a can, don't have any pork in them! I know pork is really fatening! It's a tomatoe base with a pork flavore! I read the ingredients and it don't have any pork, just pork flavore! I've noticed though that having these beans, it ups my fat intake, so I have 30%! I guess because I have 2 cups, to help me with my protein! Is that bad? I've heard if you want to build muscle to loose fat, you need 30% fat to help build the muscle! Am I right or do I need to lower my fat% to loose fat?
I'm trying to keep my calories around 1500 and my fat around 30% and my protein around 130g. The beans is what helps with the fat, unless I use differnt beans and just have some whole eggs instead of egg whites! I'm afraid to do that though because of the cholesterol, etc. DO you have any information you can give me on this? Thanks have a great day! Melindaxl |

Do you mean 30% fat?? That is a lot. A body building diet is around 40% 40% 20% p/c/f. Pork and beans bad. The other beans good. Complex carbs are necessary too.
I reread your first post. What kind of resistance exercise are you doing. Ankle wights and aerobics with weights don't really count. thatsmore in the cardio realm and not the same. -------------- Living well is the best revenge. Charlie | |

Now I started doing weight lifting for 30min and after I do the weight lifting I do 30min. of cardio. I've heard that when you do weight lifting first you burn off all your sugar and then when you do cardio, you don't have any sugar to burn, so you burn fat! I was doing firm tapes, it's aerobics with weights combined! You do lunges with weights, small,med,high steps you step up and down with weights and aerobics with light weights and squats with weights and weight lifting. The only thing that's mostly different, is you do aerobics and weights at the same time, instead of doing just weight lifting or aerobics!
I feel better, like I'm doing more when I do weight lifting first and then do 30 min. of aerobics! Right now when I get done doing my weight lifting, I do 30 min. of Tae bo for my aerobics! Why are you against pork & beans? There just about the same as baked beans, except baked beans has more sugar! Witch I don't like! Now I'm going to make sure not to have but 1 cup a day of beans, because it also cuts my carbs down! Here is what my diet is today! 43/29/28, I guess I still have time to change it! Is where I got the information about 30% fat is from www.mikemahler.com He's a vegetarian bodybuilder! Hi, Charlie, me again! I went to fitday.com and changed my diet. I hope this is better! It's 44/32/24 I tried my best to get it to 40/30/20 p/c/f. Is it o.k. ?
By the way, I can't have complex carbs, it's just like adding more fatty inches on my body! I get my carbs from my beans, and some low sugared fruit and some green vegetables! Also when I eat complex carbs, it's like I can feel the fatty inches adding on! I feel better eating this way! Thanks again! Melindaxl |
