doc_jr, aren't you supposed to be studying for a medical/fitness carreer? Hecdarec you are right on the other post, this guy should be able to answer our questions, not us answering his! after all, he knows about proper forms on lifting weight and the 300lb bench press max right?

Hi doc jr - you could try doing a search on the message boards - there are lots of suggestions there :) Also, do you have a protein supplements drink after your workout? You could also check hete at FT to find out how much protein/carbs/fat and calories you should be ingesting each day for progressive gains/mass building goals. Hope this helps :)

doc with all due respect if you come in bosting and bragging, and ask a question that you should be able to answer by your boasting this is what happens................as for diet plans, all you need to know is eat healthy 4 to 5 smaller meals in a day.............hell I learned that in high school in health class and in biology

I don't get it. 5'8" 205 doesn't sound too small to me. Any way, start with 1.5 grams of protien per pound of body weight. Then figure out the ratios of nutrients at @ 40% protien, 50% carb, 10% fat. Stick to low glycemic carbs for lasting energy except after a workout when your body is starving for nutrients. Divide your intake over 5-6 meals a day for steady absorbtion. And most importantly, track your diet or you will never know what works and what doesn't. By the way - carbs have 4 calories per gram, protein 4, and fats 9.

It is actually very simple to add mass. Simply put, you must as with trying to lose know your maintenance calories to do it right. This is the amount of calories you need to stay exactly the same with the same amount of activity and everyday occurances in your life. Once you have this, you can easily start an increase in calories. A calorie surplus is needed to gain weight. So, increase your calories by anywhere from 250-500 per day, though I would start on the lower end to avoid too much initial fat gain. Watch the scale, weigh once per week first thing in the morning, this is your most accurate time, water depeleted, etc., and when gaining stops, increase again, because now you are again at your maintenance level. A macro amount of 40/40/20 p/c/f can work well, even a bit more extreme 30/50/20. Experiment with these macros a bit so you add the least amount of fat and most lean tissue. Carbs are muscle sparing, this is why you will use more carbs and less protein in a gaining diet. Good luck, hope this helps.

I thought about that too...however blurt's spelling was correct...even if it was 5 words with no more the 4 letters each. That's still better then the Doc "WELL ARNT WE THE", "PEOPLE A THE HEALFT CENTER", "GOT TO BE THE BUMDASS"

Do not attack Bigandrew doc_jr, he answered your question and stated his opinion as well. He is right, if you come in bragging on this forum and ask simple questions not many people will show you respect. You have to give respect to get it. Bigandrew has helped me out and a lot of others out as well, you have no place attacking him. There have been people like you that have been banned, I'm sure people remember erebus and chulla. I'm sure there are more those are just the ones I was here for, and they were very disrespectful.

But to answer your question in my opinion, like Bigandrew said eat 4-5 meals a day. For gaining mass you want to eat as much as you can. Go to "nutrition plan" on this site and it will make a diet up for you. For me gaining mass I have to eat 4800 calories a day and I'm 185lbs, so the main thing is eating a lot of clean foods, and space it out to atleast 5 meals a day, I eat every 2 hours. Also since your new to the site, my biggest recommendation is listen to anything bb1fit says, he is probably the biggest help to anyone on this site. He will always give good information and he doesn't just type it, he knows what he's talking about and he will show references to support what he says. He's a very good person to ask help from.
