Hello..
Since early january Ive been eating right and starting to work out. I only consume about 2000 calories a day, I used to eat alot more. And it was all bad!(McDonalds, pizza, sweets, etc.) Now I bring my lunch to work, whole grain breads, fruits, low-fat yogurt, protein bars. And I spread it out throughout the day. I work out now about 6 times a week, weights and cardio. I'm not seeing much change in the scale. I've noticed my arms and chest are getting more definition to them. But my mid-section is the same, clothes still fit the same also. I dont know what to change or do!

Sounds like you've hit a plateau. If you don't mind, post your workout routine as well as the type of cardio you do and for how long.

Are you saying that you have only been doing this lifestyle for 3 or 4 weeks, and you haven't seen any changes? If that's the case, you need patience. Think about it: how long were you on the regimen of McDonald's, pizza, and sitting on the couch? A year? Two? Ten? Fortunately for us, the body can respond quite rapidly to drastic changes, as you noticed about your arms and chest. But you still must give it time. In addition to that, since each of us are genetically unique, we will all gain/lose at different rates, as well as in different areas on the body.
Don't worry: a good lifestyle will always pay off, just stick with it...

Thanks everyone for your advice. I know not expect changes overnight. But here is my dilema. Through various websites and these mesage boards I've heard many people say that you cant build muscle and lose wieght at the same time because it takes two completly oposite diets. Which is the reason for my concern. If Im not adding any new muscle and not losing any pounds on the scale then I dont know what Im doing wrong. I've went on diets before and lost weight, but they were the wrong diets(Atkins, starvation). Now Im trying to do it the proper way through healthy eating and exercise. Is 3-4 weeks without the scale changing normal when your just beginning? Or should I be changing something? And is that true that you cant gain muscle and lose fat at the same time? I hope that its not true, because then it would explain why Im not seeing changes in the scale. Right now Im just confused and dont know if Im on the right track. Sorry for making this so long but I thought I needed to explain myself better. Thanks

First, the scale should not be your only measurement. As you begin to replace fat with muscle, you may not notice much via scale. Instead, measure your bodyfat. You can do this using calipers (cheap method) or through water displacement (expensive method). You can also measure other bodyparts (i.e. chest, arms, legs, etc.) using a tape measure.
As the other guys have stated, you've got to be patient. After you adopt a healthier lifestyle, the changes will become more noticeable as time goes by.
