1. Dips behind back are getting easy for me (I'm in my 3rd beginners week). Should I start doing some tricep presses or is it possible that when I go to my intermediate program it will get more specialized?
2. Chins between chairs is also getting easy. Any suggestions?
BTW, I do not have access to weight machines and am using free weights at home. On a side note, I am feeling GREAT (starting 4th week of beginners work out)! I love my work outs and am starting to feel my body changing. YAY!

I believe I saw suggested on this site the other day to add some weights to your dips and chins... just take a plate from one of the free weights and lay it on your chest when you do either.. should feel a bit of resistance.
Hope that helps!

Oh.. should also mention, shakkai, variety of the exercises is good too... check out the different ones for the tricep and the back on FT... shock the muscles.. surprise them... one reason the exercises might be getting easy is because they are used to the movements of those two exercises. There is a good variety of exercises in the Exercise Resources tab here...
Good luck!

On dips between chairs, lay the plate on your lap, not on your chest. I do these almost every workout, the trick is to make your entire body limp, so all you can possibly push with is your triceps. Try to act like the only available muscle is the tri's when you are down as deep as you can go. Great mass builder.

Well, I guess I was hoping for the answer that I could do some tricep presses ILO of the dips and that I could find something else for the chins between chairs. I'll try putting the weights on me, but I think it's going to feel awkward.
Thanks for the help.

I actually thought they were gonna feel awkward too, but it really isn't once you get used to it. Check the Exercise Resources on FT... there may be some exercises you can do for the variety...
