I have been looking at the lately and would like some "real" professionals opinions. Don't forget I am 56 years old, if that makes a difference.

Thought it might help in my weight loss and "the aging process", you know "wrinkles". Also, it says it is supposed to help with muscle.

Deby stay away from that stuff it is bad news. I know there are some here that will say that :taken correctly: there is not a problem with it. BUT as with any drug or that type of thing we really can not say what side effects there will be. I am sure REV8Ball and BB will back me up on this. You really do not want to think about that stuff it is something Pro bodybuliders take and can cause many problems.

Thanks for the information, I knew I could rely on this site to give me GREAT information. I was kind of leery about it, but the ads make it sound like the "fountain of youth"!!! Thanks again.

True hGH only comes with a prescription, lots of blood work, and under a Dr's care. Any of the OTC hGH "precursers" have never really been quantified, and they're effectiveness is still in question.

Deby, there don't seem to be magic bullets. I mentioned in another post yesterday that I haven't found a fat loss supplement that I can even try. The all have warnings against use if you have high blood pressure. That shoots me right out of the saddle.

I think it may be a blessing in disguise because from what I have read here they either don't work or cause unacceptable and possibly dangerous side effects. I'm not willing to live with the shakes or a rapid heartbeat to lose this last few points in body fat. I have probably saved a fortune as well.

I'll chug along dropping 1/2 to 1% body fat per month with my clean diet and exercise until I get there.

Good luck.

My problem is it is like I have totally stopped accomplishing anything. I am lifting heavier and more reps but DEFINITELY am not losing any weight and don't appear to be gaining any more muscle. It is just soooooooo frustrating!!!! I admit my diet is not perfect but 90% of the time is!!! You would think that I would show some improvement. I have been doing cardio and lifting now for 10 months.

Gramma, lol do you change up your workout and shock your body frequently? I try to change my routine every few weeks.

Also do you really count calories and keep it clean? I basically eat the same thing so I don't have to count . If I change the diet one day, I count.

Deby, you've reached a plateau. Charlie probably gave you good advice in changing things up...including the type of cardio, how many days you work out, diet, etc. Remember, our bodies are very efficient and once it "learns" a particular habit, it conforms to it. So, you always have to keeep it guessing...

My Monday through Friday is perfect, Saturday and Sunday is so-so. Main problem on the weekend is I don't have 5-6 meals because we get up later, etc, etc!!! I do change up my routine, I am still working with a trainer and he sees to it that I am always doing something different.

It took me a while (several months) to get past my plateau. Patience and perserverance will help! Good luck!

I just took 2 "weight" training days off two weeks ago because I had to go to San Antonio with my husband so I only worked out one day that week. I work out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. I walk during my lunch each day for about 30-40 minutes. Before my workouts I do 20-30 minutes of cardio (elliptical/precor or treadmill). I feel like I am doing things right but cannot fool my body into giving up the FAT.

BB1 suggested to me to drop 250 cals per day from my food intake. Do it about 2 weeks and check results. You realize you have to "reset" your maintainance calories as your weight drops.

I took HGH a few years ago. Of course under my doctors supervision and with as it was said "lots of blood work". During that time I COULDNT WORK OUT! Doing so posed too great a risk for things like carpeltunnel and tendenitus because of growth spurts. I started to work out again about a week after I stopped and wow did i put on mass quick! -along with massive stretch marks (worst on anyone that I've ever seen) and way more muscle and bone aches than I have recieved previous to that time or since. Dont mess with hgh while doing any exercise at all! I am still paying for its after effects years later.

lyle alzado took REAL hgh, in massive amounts. Most pro bodybuilders pay 10,000 a cycle for it(bad news on the the body too). The stuff you see on t.v is not real hgh(marketing strategy not to mention lies).

When hitting a plateau like that for a while, you sometimes have to do something that may seem a bit unorthodox. See, after about 7 weeks or so of cutting calories, your body goes, oh, I see what you are doing, and will slow metabolism and thus thryroid output is less than optimal. So, you need to now "fool" your body again, by actually increasing calories. Try this, take your highest calorie day of the last week, and use that amount for an entire week. This will "refeed" so to speak the body, increase leptin levels, and the body will be happy again. Then go back and cut 250 calories from there and you will more than likely proceed again. Patience is a virtue, the body is smart and a very intricate machine. It must be fooled after a certain point.

Amen to refeeds! This helped me tremendously during my plateau.
