My program has me doing sets of 12-6-5-4 for the first four weeks now. Shouldn't the program be changing? Or is the whole "alternate reps" just a myth?

Yes the reps are supposed to change... but how longhave you been doing the program for, and whats the name of the program.

The first set is a warm up, and increase the weight as the reps decrease. Welcome to the boards and good luck.
