If DOMS or muscle sorness starts to fade after each workout. Is this your bodies way of tell you it's adjusting to your routine and it's time for a switch. I have been lifting for 6 months and i know that when i do new things i get very sore the next day, and now i'm starting to feel the soreness fade.

You will not necessarily get DOMS, delayed onset muscle soreness (which by the way, is soreness AFTER you train that may last for a couple days) each time. The more highly trained you are, normally the less you will get it if at all. So don't fret, but if you have been doing the same thing for 6 months, you should change anyway! Change about every 6-10 weeks, I like to do something different myself usually every 2 weeks, but 6-10 is fine also, escpecially if you are on a set program. Always keep it fresh.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... |

Neov3 what are you saying...that post makes no sense. DOMS is not I repeat NOT an indicator of a good or bad workout. And doing the workout backwards? Never heard of that.-------------- LIFT HEAVY! BECOME STRONG, LIKE BULL! |

It is a load of bull muscle soreness has absoultely nothing to do with a good workout or if you are used to a routine. Obviously if you change a workout up you are using the muscles in a different manner ie higher weight reps etc...that is a dramatic change and will cause soreness. I am glad you are studying sports....maybe you should read it a little more? I mean if 99% of all of us on here say the same thing you come in and say the exact opposite , and lay a claim that you are studying sports (like that is all the proof you need) we should take your word? BB1fit posted that DOMS is not a good way to judge a workout and you are saying that he is wrong? Do not get me wrong not attacking you but wanting to understand what you are implying in your posts? And by the way what does "indercasion" mean?-------------- LIFT HEAVY! BECOME STRONG, LIKE BULL! |

Okay so let me get this straight. If your body no long gets sore anymore, it just might mean that you've advanced enough physically to the point where you can remove lactic acid faster than it can build up? Am I right or wrong? I have a tendancy to push myself until i completely burn out, yet my body never feels sore afterwords. Is this good, or bad?

Neither. As long as you're keeping your routine fresh and your form, reps, and program stay intact, you're winning, sore or no sore. I pretty much stopped getting sore unless I add a brand new exercise.
For example, my first three months of working out hard in 2002, I got sore alot. Then it just stopped. Then, I'd get sore maybe once every six weeks. The most recent time I got sore was when doing decline barbell presses; my lower pecs got sore. I had been neglecting them, and they let me know it. In other words, and to repeat, if you have a good program, soreness will eventually fade, naturally. It is NOT an indicator of a successful workout, especially after you've been at it for a period of months or longer, consistently.
