When do you know when it is time to add more weight to your routine? Is there a rule of thumb as to when to increase the load?

If it seems easier, say you was doing 200lbs for and 8 rep now your can do it 11 times, make 200lbs your 12 rep, and say 215 your new 8 rep. You might the 1st week get 200x10 and 215x6, but don't increase your weight til you can cerpass those reps. So when you get 215 12 times then make that your 12 rep etc etc.............hope I made sense lol

that makes sense... here's my own personal rule of thumb, though... (of course, this depends on what exercise you're doing, but it's pretty generic, i think) i just go as heavy as i can go and still mantain clean form for the entire set... then every week or so i'll see if i can still mantain that good posture with slightly heavier weights... if so, good, but if not, oh well... the key is to keep proper form, and not worry all that much about weight (but make sure you push yourself too)... hope THAT made sense...

Thanks for the info guys. There are a few routines I could probably bump up a notch. I'll experiment, carefully, with the others.

Andrew is right, when it becomes easy add more weight and stick with it until you get all your reps in,then increase again.
