i am a corpsman in the navy just wanted to let you all know a little sexual health tip, 75% of americans have been infected with hpv, humanpapolomavirus, {genital warts} and 1 of 5 have genital herpes, so please be safe out there, keep your focus, a one night stand is not worth a life time of pain and uncertinty.

with the abundance of condoms out today, it is common sense to just wrap it up.

It is common sense; you would be surprised how many people don't use them. I've heard so many stories from people in my social circle that have had encounters and not used condoms.

PEOPLE THINK!!

You know what is really scary? Having a 17 year old daughter and trying to talk to her about std's and she blows it off. I feel like kids think they are invincible these days. I guess I did too when I was young but when I was in high school you hardly EVER heard of std's or AIDS. Hardly anyone I knew fooled around and if you did you kept it a BIG secret. I waited until I was 19 years old and I thought that was to soon. Now kids 10, 11 on up are having sex. It is sad that they feel like they have to do this just to fit in. Peer pressure is such a big thing these days. What will it be like in 10 more years?

The funny thing is people think condoms help prevent all STDS....quite a bit of them slip by from the sweat produced in the genital region. *sigh* We are all in such a damned hurry to grow up...my generation is full of reckless abandonment all for a thrill

i hate when guys and girls just go around having sex with all different people. you're asking for an STD or getting pregnent or getting a girl pregnant. I think its so much better to just hold off for someone truly special or marriage (i have a high respect for those who wait till marriage) and that you trust. and have "safe" sex with them. it feels better emotionally too...look at me, i'm acting like i'm "mr. experianced 2k4"

I agree with halfpint, my daughter is 16 and she thinks she is invincible. Of course at that age I thought I was too. She does not comprehend or pretends not to, how serious these kinds of situations are. It is scary to think how it will be in the future...

Im 19. When my parents talked to me when i was young i listened. I must tell you how great it is to see parents like y'all that care. When i approached 16 i still thought i would never have sex before marraige. That changed at the age of 17. It only takes an instant. Keep trying to have the conversations with them. Youll eventually reach them one way or another. I always understood the seriousness of the whole situation since i was very young...i must applaud you parents. I have no idea how hard it will be for me when i am an adult.

I had made a vow to wait until marriage to have sex. well, when I met my husband, that didn't last. I was 19, and we had sex twice before I got pregnant. We then placed our daughter into an open adoption, and got married 2 years later. We have only been with each other, and I know how rare that is, but even when you are sure that the person you are with is the one, you can have "upsets" like we did by simply not being as safe as you could be.

I will not get out a fool around just for that very reason. You don't know who has what and they will tell you they are safe, well, how do I know. They could have been with 50 different people and lie about it. I cannot get pregnant because I had my tubes tied. That would be the least of my worries these days. I shall stick with taking care of my ummm, how shall I say this, desires myself.

you don't have to do that,it is okay if you have a safe partner, i have been with my girlfriend since the 9th grade in highschool, and this fall we will get married, we are very safe, even though we are away alot, b/c i am in the navy, everything is okay, absence makes the heart grow founder, and i could never be with anyone but her, so i do not worry about me, just everyone elese, be safe guys.

I know where I have been, it is that other person that you have to wonder about.

This can come down to a matter of values...one may say "hey, abstinence is the only way" Another may say "But we are sexual beings and these things can happen" My point is, these things (sex, or one-night-stands) happen. Its whether or not we protect ourselves from infection that matters. Be careful all.
