rocking standing calf raises? never herd of it................best one I like are the following

*standing calf raises: bar bell on your back, put a block or somthing thats about 4 in high under your toes. Go all the way down and feel the stretch, hold for a count of one, then come up on your tippy toes for a count of 3, peak contraction of the calf is the key and so is the stretch.( done in smith machine)
*seated calf raises: same as above you just seated
*donky calf raises: should be a machine in a gym that has a harness that goes around your waist an dyou lean over and do calf raises on it.
* leg press calf raises: done on leg presses, with tips of toes on the edge( keep knees slighly bent but don't use them)
high reps work the best, for me anyways I usally do no less than 10 and lots of sets( 10x10 is what I do) or 2 excercises 5x10. YOu can also point your toes inward or outward to work different areas of the calves

well, if you want to develope your calves, just doing one exercise won't really get the job done... try them both plus some other one... ever tried jumping rope? you could even add some resistence to yourself as you do them...

make sure you go through the full range of motion and get a good stretch at the bottom and a good squeeze at top

All good ideas guys...GHETTO, the calves are a tricky muscle to stimulate growth. Be sure to hit it from all different angles and resistence. Berze is right in that you have to give yourself the full range of motion(as you would with any other exercise but not too many people do that).

What did I just say!?! lol Hit them from different angles, switch up exercises, doesn't matter what you do. Take all the suggestions from above and comprise a workout where on days you work calves, you do 2-3 different exercises, 3-4 sets each...light and heavy, seated and standing, etc....
