Heya, I’m trying to loose weight plus build those muscles but there is one problem - I loath the taste of water. I know, most people find this hard to believe but I really hate the taste of water, any water infact. The only time I can guzzle the stuff is when im really really thirsty. However I have no problem drinking it when its mixed with concentrated orange juice. However I've seen posts about how they are high in sugar. I was wondering if drinking a lot of milk is a good substitute and if milk is relatively healthy for you, in terms of weight loss and muscle building,

Thanks for the help!

Tim.

Your not alone! My trick is I add about 1/2 tsp of Crystal Light (any flavour) to 16 ozs of water. I find this way, I can get through it! Milk isin't a bad idea either.

The 'taste' of water? Maybe you should get a filter. Pure water shouldn't have a taste that you can detect.

Its tap water but I dont like bottled water either (I can drink about half a bottle in one go and then I cant stand it any longer). Do they sell Crystal Light in the UK? I'll have a look next time im shopping. I was mostly wondering if milk though is allmost as good as water, as I love milk :)

Thanks,

TIm

Water is very important in life, as it makes up like 70% of your body. You can go several days without food, but you can not survive without water. Milk is good for you, but not a substitute for water. My suggestion would be to add some lemon to your water for flavor. Good Luck!

I can't drink a glass of water in one go. So, I just carry around a bottle of water and sip whenever I can. And now I drink about 1.7-2L of water a day that way. And the bottle makes it easier to keep track of how much I drink, too. :)

Good for you konary, at least you are making the effort...guys and gals, we have to remember that water is vital, especially when dieting down FANBOY. When you use milk for protein shakes, remember that you are adding extra calories when they are not necessary...even a cup of skim milk has 90 extra calories. This is part of the fitness experience.... "SACRIFICE". You have to sacrifice some of the little things in order to push yourself to your fitness goal. I hate using water in my shakes BUT thats the short-term price I have to pay for long-term results.

I won't sacrifice my skim milk for protein shakes; I cut in other areas. But it's about compromise--not so much what you can live without, but what you will live without.

I use 12 Oz. Skim and two scoops protein powder (trying this Precision Engineered Protein Powder now; choc) costing me 295 calories for roughly 43g of protein. Deal.

I'm with Ogun, I can cut in other areas, but I need the texture the milk gives to the shake.

I used to never drink water. Now I've gotten used to the "taste" and drink it all the time. It might take you a while to get used to it. Plus I also drink Crystal Light, the stuff rocks! (LOVE PASSIONFRUIT PINEAPPLE!)

I agree OGUN but I was saying in the case of dieting down, one might want to cut using milk because of the added calories...oh, I see, you said cut cals in other areas instead...ok, never mind.

There are dozens of flavored waters out there that will add very few calories to your plan. I have lived too many places where we had our own well and that is the best tasting water to me. Now I have to take bottled water with me everywhere cuz most tap water tastes like chlorine or some other 'cleaning' chemicals. For a change now and then I will drink Propel Fitness water.

Sup I think that milk is good for drinking two cups a day! One thing is you need water, 1 it cushions you joints and spinal cord 2 it regulates temperature 3 it helps the digestive process and 4 it help you excrete. I have learned this in health class this year (Im in 8th grade) and I think that, no offense, you should suck it up and drink at least 6 cups a day if not 8. Thx for listening!
