why can i do correct push ups (diamond,rasied legs,wide,in tight etc.) and have hell of time benching my own body weight(250)?

Being able to do these require strong triceps, chest and back muscles. You'll need to build these up to be able to accomplish your goal. Lot of strength and stuff is genetics, this is why most power lifts only usually specialize in one or 2 lifts. Some tend to have more upper body strength, while others its all in the legs. I can squat 350 for 10 below parallel reps, but can't bench no where near that for reps lol, just genetics and they way your designed. GIve it time, it will happen i'm just now geting to where i can bench my body weight for 6 reps-------------- .......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! ......minds are not vessles to be filled, but fires to be enlightened ......Confucious once said ,DO NOT play leap frog with a unicorn |

I am in the same boat my goal is to be able to bench and deadlift what I can squat some day-------------- I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. it just discourages me to know i can't even bench my own body weight.i read once a human should (with proper training and such)be able to bench press up to 1 1/2 times there own body weight.if that is true then 375 seems astrological to me

I weigh in at 365 so I should be able to bench 500 plus thats alot lol,if i could bench that I would be huge lol. -------------- I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. i just want over all propotional muscle groups.i'm not tring to compete just live healthier than i have the last 31 years.

Me to I am 28 and just really starting adult life lol the whole thing house wife no kids yet though. I want to get my health together so I can stay around longer.-------------- I must not fear. I just started working out like 2 moth ago and I work my chest 2 times a week but sometimes I dint have enough time to get my work out done so I wanted to know if I can work my chest during the day like 3 pm and at night aroud 8pm again the same day

To answer the original question, push ups only involve about 2/3 of your body weight.:dumbbell:-------------- Some times life is like herding cats. Charlie | |

I'm the opposite I can't do push ups for crap, but I still can't do bench though either lol.......gets hard in football games when we do pushups for the score, gets bad when we get up in the 40s lol....luckly mtsu isn't that good and don't get that high much
