I REALLY want to see it, but one problem is...it doesn't come to Hungary until Easter!!! So I have to be patient and wait. Does it come out then everywhere by the way or is it just a coincidence that it makes it here on Easter??? Well anyways, being a Christian I feel that this will be a very powerful film....I'm a little nervous though about the effect it will have on me, because although I know what happend to Christ, it will be difficult to actually SEE it...knowing Hollywood it will be very realistic. But what HE did for us is not because of the Jews; it's through his death that we can have a personal relationship with Him and also everlasting life. Something to be thankful for!!

I have no plans to see this movie. I have read some of the Dead Sea Scroll translations and as a result tend to believe the Bible is a tool of the Roman Catholic church. The Dead Sea Scrolls were written in the time of Christ and they have a slightly different story to tell.

Quoting from ENOC: IQ????? WHAT DOES IQ HAVE TO DO WITH THIS MOVIE? :surprised: ============= It doesn't, it might have something to do with ignorance though. For Diana or those who just can't wait, You could always download it. You could probably get it a week before its release. Not that I would ever do that. |

You are correct bhardy but there are some that have inferred here and elsewhere that those who believe are somehow stupid or ignorant. Again, I respect everyone's rights and beliefs. Unfortunately, in our society that respect is often not reciprocated. Also, 'a different perspective' is nice for a change and often needed. With that I agree.

I saw the movie last night - WOW! If you plan on seeing it, bring some kleenex with you. I don't think there was a dry eye in the place.

I have been a born again Christian for about 12 years. Before that I lived a life characterized by most every vice you can imagine. I attend church regularly, read my Bible and pray daily. I have questioned my faith on more than one occasion for I have had many crisis situations in my life and have found it more than adequate. Thank you for pointing out my ignorance, though. I'm glad that there are people like you around to point out the shortcomings in my life and the folly of my core beliefs and values. From this point on I will defer to your genius on all matters of faith and values. I'll also be sure to tell my children that everything that I have instilled in them is wrong, ignorant, and stupid. Thanks

BB1, I appreciate this response and I agree. I think our PC'ness is getting out of hand.
One thing that bothered me was on one of the national news programs last night they interviewed a Jewish lady from New York. She said that she hoped that Mel Gibson understood that he was creating MORE hardships to the Jewish people. Well, you know, what about movies like Roots, King or the Color Purple? That obviously puts a bad slant on White folks. What about movies like Shindler's List? THat puts a bad slant on Germans. I'm German and I'm White. I take what I want and leave the rest. Just because these movies (King and Shindler's List) portray "my people" in a bad way doesn't mean that I deny those things happened or take offense. I dunno. This whole uproar is just baffling. I appreciate the debate nonetheless. ============ Quoting from bb1fit: Wow, I had no idea this would stir it up that much....(the dabate). I have been hearing tons of stuff on the radio about how it is stirring up all this controversy, and I thought to myself, how, this is simply a movie? I didn't believe it. But, I guess it is true, just from some of the passsionate replies to this post. Wow...we have taken things to another level in this day and age. I agree with Tenor, and this has been my view all along, its a movie! If you want to see it for your entertainment, or if you take it as more, this is simply your right. Geez, they made movies about religion years ago, The Robe, The Greatest story Ever Told, Ben Hur, there was never this uproar. It is truly amazing the political correctness we have these days. Folks, we really are out of hand. Don't take things out of context, it is a movie a man wanted to make, that is all. It could very well be about the life and times of Allah, would there be such an uproar? Somewhere we need a saftey net where this all ends, and things are back at a sensible level. I simply posted this to see who was going to see it. I for one am, and for no reason other than I love History, especially ancient Roman History, Greek Mythology, The Trojan War, World War 2, Civil War, etc. and I love these kind of movies. (I watch the History Channel all the time). Peace to all:cool: ============= -------------- The average dog is nicer than the average person. -Andy Rooney |

Sorry, about that bhardy. I was out of line but I hear that so much. Religion is personal but now days your treated as stupid or ignorant for believing. Believe me I didn't just jump into it. I was probably the most skeptical. Please forgive my rant.

BHardy. Some of your posts in here I agree with 100% and others I agree with 50%... kinda funny how that turned out.
Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that, in my humble opinion, to say "blind faith" is a dangerous thing. The reason I say this is that I have spent a great deal of time lately understanding my Higher Power (who happens to be the God of Abraham, the same Father of Jesus Christ). While I think I understand your position, I think it is MORE dangerous for people to hide under a cloak of religion without understanding their faith... e.g. only believe what the religion tells you to. On a side note, I have enjoyed this topic as we all have tried to express our feelings on the matter and have walked away with minor scratches but handshakes in the end. Let's all go lift some weights (or have a beer)! :) ============ Quoting from bhardy: Of course, agamble! And please understand that by thinking and questioning you DON'T fit into the category that I was describing. I don't have a problem with faith and religion. I have HUGE difficulty with blind faith. Frankly, I see some of that in this thread ( I will mention names ). ============= -------------- The average dog is nicer than the average person. -Andy Rooney |

I'll wait for it to hit the library then check it out. I do not fear the devil so am not overly concerned about the religious statements, just hope there is some power acting to appreciate.
