Another possibility is iodine intolerance. It can cause extreme abdomenal bloating.....If the problem is very bad talk to your doctor and ask to get tested.

What causes iodine intolerance??I have the same prob with my belly...been to all sorts of check-ups and they found nothing wrong. Also, wierd thing is, if I sit for more than an hour (like in class) then I get even more bloated that I can hardly walk!! I wish I knew why this is happening, I hate always having to suck in my stomach!! :(

I have the same problem. I have had many tests run because I also get really bad stomach cramps, so bad sometimes I have to curl up in a ball. The doctors never found anything wroong with me. I am on the IBS diet, which is mainly no starch foods, like potatoes and breads. I am not real strict on it. It was had for me to cut all carbs. The diet does help a little bit with bloating and takes away the cramps. You can search online for the IBS diet.

I too have noticed that I look and feel much thinner first thing in the morning, but I think it is all the protein and fiber I am eating. It starts about an hour after I eat breakfast. I hate it, but dont see anyway around it. I dont drink sodas so I know it isnt that. By the time I go to the gym on the way home, I feel fat and sluggish cuz Ive been eating all day long. And then amazingly in the morning I feel thin again. I know when I did the Eat Right 4 Your Type diet I had a lot less of bloating and swollen feeling. It eliminates a LOT of foods from your diet and you find out that certain foods just naturally dont agree with our bodies. However it is almost impossible to eat like that and still meet my new set of requirements for my weight training program. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts guys. I too eat alot of carbs. I have been trying hard to cut down on carbs myself , but it easier said than done. Well, i will ask my doctor about it the next time i see her...i just don't want her to send me to some specialist who will shove some camera up my ass!

There is a website www.4yourtype.com or www.dadamo.com and a book by Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo, as well as a cookbook. They also have all kinds of supplements and minerals. I found the book very interesting. The diet is based on the history of blood types and what foods were originally available for each one. If you dont want to invest in it, you might check your library. It wasnt an easy diet to get used to, but after a couple months I had a lot less bloating and gastrointestinal problems, as did my husband. I am O and he is A, so there were some major differences in what we could eat, but quite a few of the same foods were good for both of us. Like all other diet gurus, there are both believers and non-believers. If nothing else I learned what foods will give me problems and which ones wont.-------------- ~Victoria~ ...Do not be discouraged; everyone who got where he is, started where he was.--anon ...There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.--Beverly Sills |

I get bloated after eating too much bread or if I eat diary products.:(
Try to change your diet and see if you can feel any changings. ("fake" sugar like maltitol etc can give a lot of bloating as well so try to cut out all the light and diet food for a while....) -------------- - Nina :o) Les Victoires éternelles sont celles du coeur. www.nme-pro.com |

Wow, I didn't realize so many had the same problem. this has been getting increasingly worse for me and there are days I could easily pass as being pregnant. What exactly is IBS and what causes it? Time to get checked out by my dr. I think. So glad I checked out this message.

You always find the answer in your diet; what you are eating or NOT eating, how you eat, if you drink enough etc.
If you want to know exactly what causes you to bloat then you'll need to experience with changing your diet. Hope that helps. :) -------------- - Nina :o) Les Victoires éternelles sont celles du coeur. www.nme-pro.com |

I had that problem seven years ago, unfortunently not good, had to have a partial hysterectomy at the age of 32, so it's best to see your physician, it could be more than just diet.-------------- Robin Alls Fair in Love and War |
