jnellie Posts: 924 Joined: 2002/02/24	2004/02/24, 06:42 PM my brother hanged himself this past weekend..it is so tough we were real close when we were kids...this hurts...has anyone ever dealt with a sibling suicide..if so how did you deal with ..i am devastated...thanks

My brother Romy (barely 21) shot himself in March of 2002, then my brother Chris (19) shot himself in December of 2002. :angry: :surprised: It does hurt because we all made plans for when we grow up and now they are not going to happen the way we hoped. I think about them every day and just hope that where ever their spirits are, that they know I love and miss them; and although I am angry at them for their choice to end their own life...I STILL LOVE THEM and think they are WONDERFUL!!! I joined an online support group and have met TONS of nice people that have gone through the same thing! It is a terrible thing to have to experience! Please keep your head up!!! I know things seem grim now but his spirit will live on in the words and memories of your friends and family! All the best to you and your family!!! Jenn

jsom85 Posts: 316 Joined: 2004/01/16	2004/02/24, 08:33 PM I havn't personally had a sibling commit suicide but with in a year and a half, i think about 5 kids from my high school died. 3 while i was still in the school. One was a close friend of mine, he died in a car accident on a rainy night. Although it does not compare to your loss, it still hurts and i think of him everyday. It does hurt quite a bit at the beginning, but over time the pain begins to subside and things begin to look brighter.:love::love:things will definatly get better, just hang in there...we're here for ya:love::love:

Losing a family member suddenly is always hard and I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to have that person choose to end their own life. I have a twin sister I'm close to and losing her would be like losing part of myself. Please take care and know that even though it's hard to look ahead, w/ time it does get easier.

When people are in acute pain or palliative care and end there life or it is aided or ends we are glad for them because they are then free for the pain,.Mental/emtional/physcial pain are all entwined, but a stigma seems to be associated with suicide. May I asked you to consider the thought that he is now pain free??? There is support groups for survivors of suicde. Check your local mental health center or on line for your regional associations. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

If I can offer anything, is to allow yourself to go through the greiveing process turn to friends and other family, yet try not to figure out why our love one did what they did, as you will never know the answer. While you are greiving know that there is a community of people here to support you during this time. Again so sorry, our thoughts a prayers be with you.
