Well, after working out for 6 weeks straight (3 days a week, not missing a day), seeing my obliques for the first time and doing 10 manly push-ups, I have officially ran out of steam. This would be my 7th week... I haven't worked out since Saturday and even then it wasn't that much fun.
I dunno what happened, but all of the sudden it just didn't feel like fun anymore! A lot have been going on at my work and in my personal life and I am emotionally worn out... maybe that's carrying over into my physical body.
Obviously, you're all going to tell me to get my butt moving and lift some weights. LOL. Any words of support would be appreciated. :(

Shakkai, I know that we have all been in your shoes. The important thing is to not beat yourself up about it. Move forward. Try to get back in the gym and get that routine up and moving again. The rewards are well worth it.

Shakkai......You are allowed to fall off the wagon everyonce in a while...this is how I look at it...When I am not in the zone to go to the gym and I go anyway I feel as if I am struggling to get through my exercises and I dont get the best out of them. Work and personal life can drain everything from you to when you get home you are mush.....take sometime get your things in order and MOTIVATE yourself to get back in there.......You are just getting started (by seeing results) girlfriend dont stop now...........

A wagon may be a high place to fall from, but only a few steps on said wagon are all that stand in the way of climbing back on and seeing the world from atop.

Also at 6 weeks you are coming to that point where it may be beneficial to take a few days off. Most people say 8 weeks but everyone is different. If you've been working hard it might be time. One sign of overtraining is lack of motivation. It is also a sign of the beginnings of burnout. Rest up and get back to it and as the others said, don't beat yourself up over it.

I go with agamble here. A rest week is a necessary thing every 6 to 9 weeks or so. You also have to realize that growth occurs while resting, not exercising. Keep up your diet and take a little time off.

So is 6 weeks off one week on a good schedule? ;)

I'm with you off the wagon...but don't let it last!! That's what happened to me! It's been 6 weeks since I was seriously working out...but I'm determined to get back at it!:dumbbell:

That depends. Some go 8-9 weeks before a break. The 12 week mass program goes 10 before a break. Personally I go 6-7 weeks, then take a week off. It would depend on how hard you work. You don't want to overtrain or burn out, but then again you want to get as much work done before you have to break. Does that make sense?

I think I understand. I didn't realize that in weight training we were "allowed" to have a break. This burnout just came on suddenly so I was kinda bummed about it. Oh well, I'll pick it up next week. YAY! Thanks everyone! I appreciate the words of support.

Pick up next week with a brand new routine, try something different and fun for cardio, kick boxing, or spritning, anything new.

It is good, once you have a base conditioning, to work in 5 week routines, maybe that would be a good fit for you. You don't wnat to take a week off eevery five weeks, but maybe a couple extra days to research and plan a new routine.

The break will also give your nervous system time to recuperate. This will help you when you start your new routine.

Well, I honestly only missed 2 work out days... so, I went into my program and put in my big fat zeros. But you know what? No big deal.
I did want to know though... when I restart my 8 week program, should I change my activity from "sedentary" to something else? I had religiously been working out 3 times a week. What cha'll think?

I think it only will effect the FT nutritional reccomendations. Probably up your calories a bit. I didn't notice much change in my exercise programs. It may also effect some of the charting info like body fat.
