The 18 inches of snow we got destroyed my marina. My boat slips next to a tall houseboat and was spared damage but it looks like about 40 of 100 boats were damaged or destroyed. The weight of the snow pushed the docks under water and literally crushed or sank a bunch of boats. We had some damage to dock lockers and the fingers by our boat but by and large we escaped with minimal damage. The docks look like they were bombed and strafed. Mama nature is a bitch.
All 3 motors on Sawdust and Paint cranked and all seems well so I count us as lucky. Very sad to see so many wrecked boats.:(

See how us canucks take things for granted. I never ever could imagine that, becuase it is very normal for us to store boats for the winter and tow the docks to land.
Never thought of having those troubles. Glad to hear you guys weren't wrecked.

We NEVER get snows like this. This was the third biggest snow in recorded history. Last one was like 1906!! I'll be doing tugboat duty weekends in the forseeable future. Boats have to be literally yanked from under debris. Its kind of like a contained hurricane. Very sad. Dead boats break my heart.:(

Not here on the redneck riviera, Ivan. I'm not even sure the marina is insured. We are personally though. The really bad part is slips are at a premium and the tree huggers weigh in whenever water people do anything. It'll be like musical boatslips if the powers that be make repairing the marina difficult.
