Hi all,
I was wondering if any of you guys have had any experience taking GABA ? also, is it effective in gaining muscle mass ? I have a friend who uses it and swears by it. He seems to have achieved quite good results, however, after reading up about it I am rather skeptical..

The amino acid GABA has been shown in numerous studies to promote significant increases in plasma growth hormone levels. It is tough to tell if it works, it should though induce a good nights sleep, thus increasing anabolic hormones.

Personally I would opt for ZMA, believe it will give much better results.

I sometimes take a little of GABA before bed time when I'm very tired and I know that I only got a couple of hours of sleeping.
Works fine for me.
For muscle gain I don't know but for recovery, it's good.

I hate to bring up an old dead post... but I have been taking a form of gaba recently. I have now been taking it for about 4 weeks, and had a few questions. Do you cycle gaba? If so, what should it be?

And second, I have been noticing some major differences since I began taking gaba. The only think that has changed about my routine has been the addition of gaba. Is it normal to experience a large increase in weight gains in my lifts, and muscle size? I have definitely experienced both, and was wondering if it was normal.

Gaba as a wonder weight loss supplement? Eat pizza and drink beer and lose weight? Give me a break! Can anyone say television weight loss ad??

Gaba is however a powerful amino acid, and does work for many. Increased anabolic hormone production, tissue repair, thus more strength and stamina.

And glutamine as a fat fighter? Oral glutamine may not even make it out of the gut! I don't know where you got your information from, but it is not correct.

Quoting from dianneb:

And the winner is GABA. GABA is an amino acid (a natural product) that you take right before bed on an empty stomach. If any natural product works as well as GABA for body fat loss, I have not seen it. In fact, I have friends who drop fat and lean out abs taking GABA and eating a steady diet of pizza and an occasional beer. GABA is the fat bomb and there are a few great pure powders out there like AST. I recommend In Shape Dream Shape. Great product at the best price.

A second great fat oxidizer quickly making headway in the Battle Against the Bulge is Glutamine. Another amino acid that you take daily. Use a pure powder and buy the most cost effective brand you find. That changes month to month. Right now, it might be Sci Fit Glutamine.

A third good ab producing fuel is Pyruvate. This is a relative newcomer but it seems to help speed body fat loss and provide extra energy to perform harder and better workouts in the gym. Lots of high priced choices out there. The brand to take, hands down, is NOW. Great quality at a super price. Make sure to take 5 grams daily or it won't do a thing.

There is no timeframe for cycling GABA, but you have to realize a point of diminishing returns with anything.

You will see by my post that GABA can relate to some tremendous progress.
