As with any of these types of plans, the diet must be followed along with excercise. Good Luck!

fernman559, I followed this diet for around 4 months and gave me pretty good results, but as fsdsk posted, you have to exercise regularly... I combined it with some cardio and weight training and managed to lose around 25 lb
Hope this helps

You can lose weight on Slimfast but it works because each shake only has about 200 kcals, you get two pieces of fruit and a "reasonable" dinner, so the total intake in a day is something like 1200 kcals. I think you'd be better off planning a balanced diet w/ lower kcals based on your current weight and nutritional needs. I know it's more complicated than Slimfast but I think you'll see more permanent results that way. Or at least follow the Slimfast "plan" but substitute a shake that's more nutritionally complete. One shake I really like is Organic Frog Drink Your Greens. I buy the high protein shake. It really is an awesome supplement IMO. I've never used it for weight loss but it's fairly low in calories mixed w/ skim milk (can't handle mixing it w/ water), is sweetened w/ stevia, and it's WAY better nutritionally than Slimfast (although honestly Slimfast is not hard to beat, LOL, but Organic Frog is awesome).
It isn't sweet like a dessert and some people I know don't like the taste. :( Charlie would probably think it's weird. But really that's just an example. You can get a lot of samples of protein shakes at your health food store so you can try them before you buy a whole canister.
Didn't mean to turn this into a commercial for Organic Frog. LOL But it really is great stuff. I'm going to paste a link, this stuff rocks!

JessicaR is correct on the kcals issue ... with 1200 - 1500 kcals a day you definitely must be loosing weight (depending on your daily caloric needs).
I used to take the shake as mentioned on the Slim Fast plan and got pretty good results, having the 2 shakes and the balanced meal and exercise, and now I've modified it a little bit in order to get the carbs/proteins I need daily.

They should call this Gas Fast instead...
