Broken collar bone

Hi. I am a 19 yr old male. I recently broke my collar bone snowboarding. I messed up on a jump and all my wieght came down on my left shoulder. The bone is broken/fractured in 4 places. One is really bad, the bone makes a bump where it is sticking out. Its not through the skin or antyhing. anyway, the doctor says it will heal and wont need surgery, however my left shoulder now will be shorter and higher thank my right because of it. I work out religiousally however and notice myself losing muscle fast. what can i do to prevent this, and how long before i can begin lifting again. I read in another post that you must wait 4 months. what can i do before that that will gain muscle back, i need to lift, so is there anything light or easy i can do to gain it back before the 4 months.
