i have been using the Pro ZMA and it is the best thing i ever took. I have been having trouble getting solid sleep for a while now until ZMA. Thanks bb1! I think i will stick with it cause it works.

Question: if you weigh more, do you need higher dosages. My brother in law wants to try some of mine but he ways 250. I weigh 165 and take two before bed. The label just says to take two. Does'nt say anything about weight.

No, weight is not an issue with ZMA. He will take the same doseage.

Jsom, I'm in the same boat. Over the last few years, sleeping through has become an issue. I'm almost convinced it has become a habit more than anything. The last few days I've slept in until 7-7:30. I bet it has been 2 years that I have gotten up at 05:30, every day. 7:30 NEVER happened. It's awesome, I don't feel so tired in the middle of the day. I'll second the thanks to BB1 for tipping us all off!

does the body ever get used to the synergy effects of ZMA and does the ZMA become less effective?

To my knowlege, no. As mentioned, they are simply minerals, and can and always will do their thing. Another nice side effect is it should cut down on your catching colds, as it is a good immune system boost also(the zinc). Feel free if you like to add a Vit. c, this will boost your immune system even more, and not bother any other effects.

Calcium is the reason why. Calcium can fight for absorbtion in good amounts with the zinc. I would take my ZMA after my last meal(2 hrs.), wait 30-45 min., then have my cottage cheese and go to bed.

Hmm, this ZMA seems to be quite effective from all of your talks, maybe I should try it. I have a real hard time with feeling really tired when I get up in the morning, and if it helps with muscle repair and gains, and boosts the immune system it sound's like it has a power packed punch. Thanks bb1fit and all for the info.

BB1, another question, is Magnesium Oxide simply magnesium? I'm having a really hard time finding the 250 mg tabs at pharmacies, but a found a site online that sells 500mg tabs of Mag. Oxide - same stuff?

Magnesium is an element your body needs to function normally. Magnesium oxide may be used for different reasons. Some people use it as an antacid to relieve heartburn, sour stomach, or acid indigestion. Magnesium oxide also may be used as a laxative for short-term, rapid emptying of the bowel (before surgery, for example). It should not be used repeatedly. You should be able to find magnesium at any health food store, even GNC brand is ok.

Thanks BB1, it's weird, I know I should be able to find it, and can in low mg formats. It's the 250 or 500 mg formats I can't find. I don't know, maybe it's a Canadian thing. I'll check in the states next time I'm down. Thanks again for clarifying that, I wouldn't have wanted to be "cleaning out my bowels" every day!

Thanks bicep, I've checked at the Quebec version (Parmaprix), and again, the highest format is 100 mgs. Maybe it's a Quebec thing?

When they say 450mg of magnesium in ZMA, do they mean 450mg of magnesium aspartate, or 450mg of elemental magnesium? Because 450mg of magnesium aspartate only translates to a much smaller amount of elemental magnesium. The GNC ZMA in the following link: http://www.gnc.com/productDetails.aspx?id=824411&lang=en, has 300mg of magnesium aspartate, which only translates to 60mg of elemental magnesium.

From what the lady at the supplements store told me (and some brief research), magnesium comes in different forms (aspartate, citrate, or oxide), and each form yields a different % of elemental magnesium. Which means, if ZMA refers to 450 mg of mag. aspartate, that means i have to take a different amount of mag. citrate to match the same amount of elemental magnesium.

Does anyone know?

Thanks

hey all. I just got some precision brand ZMA however it only has 30 mg of zinc, 450mg of magnesium, and 10.5 mg of b-6 which is less than recomended above. I bought this because i couldnt find zinc and magnesium in the form used on the bottle. You guys say walmart has these? Is this ZMA any good or should i take it back?

so basically the magnesium that we looking is the elemental one right?? I have the jamieson natural sources brand and on the label it says 250mg of elemental magnesium. And next to that it says, from a highly absorbable natural magnesium complex source of magnesium oxide, magnesium glycerophosphate, magnesium malate. I checked different post and i still don't know if i got the right magnesium or not at all. Anybody knows??

first of all i would like to thank every one of you for all of the usefull information. i would also like to send a special thanks out to bb1fit. you are by far the most knowledgeable person i know, i hope you can help me out. i am takeing zma and i thought that i would see what you guys were talking about. i read the whole page and i learned a lot about zma, but i found that a cupple of my questions seemed to be left unanswered. one of my two questions is, on the zma that i am takeing it says that studdys have shown that someone taking zma would get 250% more gains in strength than that of a person who was useing plecebo. i was woundering if this is true? another question that came to mind was i believe you said that it is ok to eat right befor you go to sleep. i heard that any food that a person consumes right before they go to bed is not used as an energy scource and is stored in the body as fat. i was also woundering if this is a fact...and thanks again for all of your help

I am no expert, but I have read that when it comes to your minerals, you should look for chelate forms instead of carbonates. Example: Calcium chelate instead of Calcium Carbonate. It is supposed to have a better absorption rate so better use/value. Any more info on this?

i bealieve in the concept of mind over matter. i believe that a person is only as strong as their mind and their body is just the shell, the work horse, the blunt instrument to get the job done, however, if your mind is strong you can keep your body strong. when i am tired i tell my body to F*** off, because i believe that when i am tired its just my boddy telling my mind to stop. then i go untill i cant go any further, and then i go one more time. i am on my quest to be the biggest bad-A$$ out there, a physical specimen, a supreem being.

I have been doing ZMA myself as BB1 suggested. However in doing some research I found that you are not supposed to get magnesium oxide. Something about it can’t be absorbed. I checked my bottle and low and behold it was magnesium oxide. Should I switch to another form of magnesium?
