Hi!
I'm 5'3" and currently weigh 145lbs. I would like to lose 10lbs and so kept track of absolutely everything I ate for 2 weeks. What I discovered is that I'm only taking in a little over 800 calories per day. There isn't any junk, mostly veggies, chicken, fish etc. I get around 20 carbs per day. My question is, am I taking in enough calories to lose weight? I've been trying to get rid of the 10lbs for about a year. I walk for excercise because I don't enjoy weights. The recommendations for me on the diet tracker are: Cal=1998kcal, Carbs: 300g, Proteins: 150g, Fats: 24.4g
I've tried to take in up to 1000 calories per day but can't seem to get there, even adding a Slimfast shake as a snack.
Thanks for any help you can give me!

no, you are starving your body.
I would start you with a goal of 1450 calories a day, but you will need to work towards that gradually.
Find an exrcise you liked as a kid and try it out now.
Walking is good, but it doesn't build muscle mass and bone density the way weight training wil. muscle will help you feel stronger and burn body fat.
Your body adapts to walking pretty quickly, try adding in some sprints of jogging or runn ing to boost your calorie burn.
There is no way your body will give up 10 lbs with only 800 calorie a day. Your body is probably busily breaking down muscle and replacing it with fat because it perceieves famine. this, in turn, lowers your metabolism, meaning your body will 'make do' with those calories, but no more muscle and no weight loss.
Add some fat in the form of olive oil to your vegetables, it actually helps burn bodyfat.
try adding a 1/3 cup of oatmeal in the morning or a slice of whole grain toast. You will need to eat 5-6 times a day and gradually incraese your calories week by wek until your body is convinced that it isn't a fluke and that the famine is over. This takes time. Body is not trusting, it is made to survive.
God luck!

Whoa-I didn't know you could do more than get out of bed with only 800 calories. That is VERY counterproductive health-wise. I mean serious, long-term effects. Listen to asimmer and correct your eating habits ASAP.

Thank you both so much for your replies. I really did not realize that there was a problem until I tracked my diet. You can't imagine how hard I am trying. I eat 6 times a day and keep scrupulous track of everything so I am amazed at how low the calorie intake is. Thanks for your help and encouragement.
