This may sound like a pretty stupid question but when referring to your mother what is the most common term used. I am 43 and I still call mine 'momma'. Thing is, I was in the store the other day and saw her and said, "Hey momma. What are you doing....yada, yada" Thing is some young shitbag overheard me and made a big deal about a grown man calling his mother momma. I'm certainly no titty baby and I don't have a complex, I just never gave it much thought. BTW it was a good thing my dear old momma was there or either he or I would have got the crap kicked out of 'em. Does anyone suppose I'm behind the times or is that term still common (For us grown-ups I mean). Like I said pretty irrelevent but it has got me to thinking. Thanks

I call mine Mom or gramma, especially when we're around my kids... just seems easier...

no doubt carivan, its no one elses business how you talk to you mom, that seems rediculous that someone would say something about that...they obviously need to try to make fun of people to make themselves feel better. By the way, i call mine mommy:)

I call mine Mom, or Granny cuz thats what all the grandkids call her and what she responds to the fastest....lol. She however signs cards and letters, Mother. My daughter calls me Mom or Mommy, my sons both call me Momma (and it's usually said in a a whine). My grandsons call me Nanna. My mom and I are both happy to be called any of them. And I hope my sons are still calling me Momma when they are 50+.-------------- ~Victoria~ ...Do not be discouraged; everyone who got where he is, started where he was.--anon ...There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.--Beverly Sills |

I don't have a mother, but when I did, I was only allowed to address her as Mother. My kids call me Mom, Mommy, Mother and when they are in trouble, they just call me ma'am. lol I think that however you address your mother, as long as it is with love and respect, is totally okay. Mom or Mother. When I was about 8 my Dad/Father came into my room and told me that I had to stop calling him daddy, I could call him dad/father/old man/pops etc. etc., but not Daddy. So at that time I dropped mommy/momma as well. It's not wierd though, just cultural and individual

Right in my cell phone it says "Momma". She doesn't really like "MA" shouted out in public places, but it's fun to do anyways. Particularly if you can do it over and over (ma? ma? mom? MA-a-AH!)
What a rude and disrespectful ignoramus to intrude upon your personal relationship with your mother. He probably doesn't kiss his in public either. I kiss my mom every time I see her, and every time I leave her, and will call her momma every day that I have with her. |

ma,mom, momma and sometimes to catch her attention and pick a little (mom!Mom!MOm!MOM!mom!MOm!)in various tones like that, I know it may sound irritating, but picking is one way that I show I really care about someone (it's the way I was raised). And then I call my dad, dad and sometime's pappy (like popeye's dad, my dad was a sailor and when I was little popeye use to be my favorite cartoon because my pappy was a sailor and that's who I idiolized my pappy and popeye, lol) boy that brings back alot of memories.-------------- A determined mind is the best weapon in any situation, a strong body is the road to victory.
