Co workers - changing jobs?

Hi everybody, I guess I just need to tell this to somebody... anyways, do you believe that having a bad relationship with your co-workers is an important issue in order to switch/look for another job? I work with 4 other guys here at the firm, and they seem to be on a position where they want to make me quit (I really don't know why, but I guess that's not very relevant...)

The point is, my bosses think that I am a doing a pretty good job, and I get all my projects done on time so there's not really any bad comments about that... but just thinking that you have to spend 8 hours everyday with a bunch of people that are just waiting for the right moment to piss you off that's too much to handle for me...

Now any comments on this? I've tried speaking to my bosses about it but they have a way of thinking (probably right or wrong, depends on how you see it) that "as far as the proffesional issues are running and the business gets through with profits, personal issues are not their concern..."

What do I do?

If you hate going to work, find another job. If you can't stand being there, no matter how good your work is, it'll change... productivity will go down, morale will fall and in turn, your companies dear profits will fall.

If it's not a fun place to be... look for one...

Just my opinion though...

Try presenting this to your bosses this way:

- I'm not happy
- I do a good job, but if you want me to continue producing well, make my place of work a great place to be...

Look at Microsoft... everybody loves being there and because of that Bill Gates is the richest man in the world...

Thanks Tim, I guess you are right, I've always thought of an job option as one that not only lets you grow on a professional level, but also on a personal level.. which means that your bosses should be concerned about you and your benefit... Am I wrong?

Nope... they have to be able to see the 'whole' picture... one unhappy employee can make an entire company fail....

I agree with Tim, your co-workers are a big part of your job. If they are making you miserable, it doesn't appear that it will get any better, you hate going to work, then bail. I would definately explain the reasoning to my superiors and do the right thing by them. On the other hand, it seems that the workplace will always have knuckleheads whose sole purpose in life is to make other people miserable. Just don't be hasty. (BTW, could you take one of two of them. Just thinking out loud)

I agree with all so far. When I'm unhappy, I go. Of course, I could really use a paycheck right about now...

Don't leave one job until you've secured another

Well it seems that I about made my mind, or they made me take a decision... I just got informed that the job opening that I've been looking for and working my ass off for 3 years is going to be given to one of the other guys... I guess that explains most of the attitude towards me and trying to make me quit in order for the other guy to have the way wide open....

I feel terrible I guess I just needed to talk to somebody about it... 3 years man! oh well, I guess i can apply that saying that agamble told us once... "when it is the darkest is just before dawn..." something good will open up surely...

Thanks for listening

Pure politics sounds like to me. Hey, you got a right to feel frustrated, but don't let it consume you. Your hard work is never something that is in vain, even if your particular higher ups don't see it. I firmly believe that whenever one door closes, another one opens. Maybe this is a sign that your talents could best be utilized elsewhere....?? Guess only you can decide that, however it turns out, good luck to you.

I wise friend once told me to never run away from anything, it is better to run to something better. Meaning don't run from the situation, but if a better job happens to come along, run to it. Make sense? It's all a matter of perspective. Good Luck!
