Weight lose and tone + dieting

Hey everyone! I'm pretty new...well I just started actually using the site. I've been up and down with my weight for a long time now. I am currently recovering from bulimia so food is kind of a tough issue for me.

buttt.... I was wondering if I could get some tips for weight loss and toning. I am looking to lose about 20 lbs (i'm about 139-140 now and 5'4") ...

I just started using slim fast about two days ago. I like that it's easy and I don't get too tempted with other foods (well not so far). This is what my diet plan is

Breakfast - Slim fast shake
Snack - Apple (or orange)
Lunch - Slim fast Shake or slim fast soup
Snack - either celery w/ peanut butter, fruit, or egg beaters in a whole wheat pita
Dinner - Normally a lean meat like chicken breast and veggies. Or a salad w/ chicken.

How does that look? I am also starting a cardio plan I found in Shape Magazine that's about 5-6 days a week and varies in intensity and what you're doing (like walking, running, or biking) and I plan on following an eight week plan I found in the same issue that's all about variation.

Wow, sorry this is so long. I just want to look and feel healthy again. BTW i'm 18 and A senior in highschool ..(haha I just want to look good for prom :p ).

Hi xpurex...I never did the slim fast thing but it looks like your not getting the full amt of food. If youre wanting help there are a lot of eating plans to work with. I was successful cutting out carbs and sweets. I also worked out seven days to really get in the groove. I drank 1 gal of water everyday and shed some unwanted lbs. Currently Im working with the South Beach diet and it works. I eat five meals a day, workout, drink my water and generally feel great. The only thing I see with the meal your doing now is that once off you might gain lbs back. Chicken, lean meats, fish, vegetables, eggs, turkey bacon, Canadian bacon, tomato juice, sugar free jello, skim milk cheeses etc are some of the foods eaten on South Beach Eating plan. If youd like I'll send you via email some of the eating plan. I found that lifting weights WOW over three years ago has been a fantastic release in all areas of weight loss and stress release :) :laugh::laugh::laugh: good luck

Hi xpurex,

You and I are about in the same boat, except that I am anorexic. I'm 5'3" and 142lbs. It doesn't sound like you are taking in enough calories to lose weight which is the problem I had. I now only use slimfast as a snack to boost my calories. I know that because you have bulemia that food intake is an issue, but you need to try to substitute that extra slimfast for some good, unprocessed food. I eat 6 times a day and am up to 1100 calories per day, up from 800. Spend some time with the diet tracker putting together days of good eating and I think you will see results. I've been doing this for less than two weeks and I've lost 2lbs already. Good luck!

Actually I've been eating a lot more than the meal plan i posted. I eat a lot of snacks...because i'm a snacker. Soo...I get from 1400-1600 calories a day and all my daily vitamins. plus a lot of those calories are from "junky" snack foods because I can't for the life of me get enough calories eating the good for me foods that i like. I just get too full too fast. Sooo.... yeah.

I tend to use fitday and the food tracker here to see what I need to get more of n such.:love::love::love::love:

I need someone to kick my butt really.

I just can't seem to get this weight off (fat off). I really want to get my BF% down at least 5-7%. I'm just a flabby little girl.

I tried the Slim Fast thing as well. I had a horrible time with the amt. of carbs in it. I switched to drinking the EAS shakes. They are low in cals, fat and carbs and I think they taste better anyway. They also offer a great alternative to a "sweet" if you need an afternoon snack.

I have lost almost 10 lbs in 2+ months by getting rid of the slim fast (plus cutting down on starchy stuff like breads, potatoes and corn) and doing cardio more often.
