Andro sucks anyway. The ban of the less risky/better PHs is going to sting a lot more. FWIW, it's not technically banned, although anyone who continues to sell it is taking a hell of a risk.

i know this was a mistake because i am 16, but about 6 or 7 months ago i got on this stuff called andro-shock, it had a ton of different types of andro in it. i was the lucky one (thank god) i didnt have any side effect but a cupple of my friends got glyno (bitch tits) and they lost like all of their strength afterward. i didnt lose any strength and i didnt get glyno, but i dont know why. anyways i got it from a website called www.anabolicsmall.com. and i went back there recently and they have taken all of the andro products out and replaced them with some stuff that i have never even heard of, but they decided to keep the nome of andro shock eventhough it had no andro in it anymore. and all the other companies like gnc and vitimin cottage stoped selling anything to do with andro a long time ago. i was just woundering why they banned it and what are the health risk that you are talking about. i need to be educated so i dont make sn of the same mistakes...thanks

P.S.
even if andro was on the market i still wouldnt buy it again i dont want to screw up my boddy in any way. i deeply regret getting on andro in the firstplace, but the reason why i did it was because i cut 23 pounds for wrestling when i was at 142 pounds and 9% bodyfat and i cut to wrestle in the 119 pound weight class, and i didnt know what it could do to me in a bad way because i just read the adds that the company made to sell there product, and i ignored the warning: do not use if you are a child, teenager, ect. i just wanted to get strong again because i lost 30 pounds on bench and 40 on squat that season.

i bealieve in the concept of mind over matter. i believe that a person is only as strong as their mind and their body is just the shell, the work horse, the blunt instrument to get the job done, however, if your mind is strong you can keep your body strong. when i am tired i tell my body to F*** off, because i believe that when i am tired its just my boddy telling my mind to stop. then i go untill i cant go any further, and then i go one more time. i am on my quest to be the biggest bad-A$$ out there, a physical specimen, a supreem being.

Here is the low-down:
"On October 22, President Bush signed into law the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2004, which bans effectively all prohormones, such as androstenedione. This law goes into effect 90 days from the President’s signing. The bill reads that every prohormone that retailers carry in their stores, with the exception of DHEA, will be a criminal offense in the same class as possessing anabolic steroids (Schedule III). This is a very unfortunate situation, and the fact that this is not a ban, like with ephedra, but a criminalization that makes possession and sale of prohomones a much more serious offense."

What's worse, by making Andro a Schedule III, the FDA, in effect, is admitting that they work. So, now that they are going to be prescribed, I think that abusive steroid use will increase, the mind set being "hell, if I'm gonna go to jail, it might as well be over the 'real' stuff!"

The sad thing about this is that we have all of this to thank for due to the ridiculous claims, product mis-labeling, and down right snake oil lies and salesmanship of a few trashy supplement companies. To them, I give a hearty (albeit sarcastic) "THANK YOU!!! ...

You made my point exactly. The FDA has been trying to get into the supplement industry for over a decade, and has been prevented from doing so by the promise of the industry to police itself (TY to Hatch). However, with shady little companies doing shady little things in order to boost sales (i.e., puting Andro in a protein powder without claiming it on the label), in conjuntion with steroids getting such public attention in sports like you mentioned, has given the FDA a door to walk right through, all in the name of a public outcry.

The Muscletech ordeal was just plain careless on their part. I dont believe they intentionally put 19 nor andro in their Nitrotech protein. Muscletech does alot of private labeling and subcontract manufacturing for other companies in the industry. They also make other companie's andro products. From what I have heard they didnt clean their blenders and mixers from previous 19nor andro production runs so it contaminated their run of nitro-tech protein. It only takes a trace amount of 19 nor andro to test positive on a drug test.

Great post, I totally agree. Uneducated users, as well as unscrupulous manufacturer's have allowed inroads to our industry. We have been fighting this for years.

Quoting from null:

We just finished our last production run of our line of methylated prohormones a sad day here at Serious Nutrition Solutions. The ban IMHO was due to Olympic and baseball scandals ie: Barry Bonds, Victor Conte etc... Bush made it clear in a news conference earlier this year that he wanted to see action taken by Congress. Although there are alot of crappy companies out there I dont believe that was the downfall of prohormones. The FDA has launched major initiatives for 2005 on dietary supplements. These initiatives are good and bad to you all as consumers, first the good: 1)Consumers will see better quality in their supplements 2)Due to their enforcement it will weed out all those false claims and advertisements. Here is the bad 1)Your cost as a consumer will rise just because manufacturers having to comply for GMP certification FDA consultant fees/ Having to hire attorney's just to review our labels, print ads etc. All these things add up and in turn companies will pass these costs down to the end consumers and prices will go up. 2)Alot of new innovative indgrediants wont get approved therefore cutting edge supplements will be delayed or not even released. Example is creatine even after long terms studies show the very useful benefits of creatine for the most part the FDA does not approve of creatine and if they could it would've been banned years ago. Here is what it boils down to you are losing as a consumer your freedoms to choose! Im not here shooting you guys a line of bull here are the FDA links read for yourself.
