Does anyone know a good site where I can find out the nutritional info for an actual restaurants salad dressings? The reason I ask is because I have become hopelessly adicted to Outback's Tangy Tomato Dressing, I use it for salads, in place of BBQ sauce on my meats etc. and would like to be able to calculate it properly into my daily food diary. Any help would be great!

This may sound like a stupid question but have you tried Outback's website. If you can't find it, ask the manager next time you are in there. They are usually more than happy to help.

LOL never thought to check the for thier website <feeling slightly stupid here> and all the manager told me is that he would be happy to sell it to me for the wonderfully inflated price of $4.99 plus tax for a styrofoam cup :)

He wouldn't give you the info. I thought all of these restuarants were supposed to provide nutritional info. Even McDonalds does that! That is pretty high. Buy some and figure out how to make it. It blew me away when I found out the Thousand Island was Ketchup and Mayo LOL.

Guess I can try to ask a different manager when I'm there next, if I'm not mistaken they make that dressing so they may not have exact info anyways.

Outback Steakhouse®
(Nutrition Information is not available)

We have attempted to collect nutrition information for this restaurant but received the following reply:

"...Outback Steakhouse does not make nutritional claims about our menu items. Accordingly, we have not conducted a detailed nutritional analysis of our menu items, except for our Tangy Tomato no-oil salad dressing due to the 'fat free' claim. However, all of our food is prepared fresh daily, so when possible, we will try and accommodate your dietary needs."

Guess that should kinda answer my question:laugh:, found it on www.dietfacts.com/item.asp?itemid=9979

This is from the results of an askjeeves.com search - You could use splenda instead of the sugar. There is a site called topsecretrecipes.com, they had a listing for the recipe but it wasn't in their archives. i hope this is close!

I'd have to say we get more cloning requests
for this salad dressing than for any other
chain restaurant dressing out there. So,
last week I suited up in protective gear,
donned some safety goggles and set out to
tackle the tangy beast. Now, fresh out of
the underground laboratory, comes this
simple formula for recreating Outback's
popular salad topper in your own cozy
kitchen. Mix it up, heat it up, cool it
down, and store it in the fridge until salad
time.

1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon ketchup
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon coarse black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
pinch thyme

1. Combine all ingredients in a small
saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil,
whisking often, then reduce heat and simmer,
uncovered, for 5 minutes. Cover the dressing
until cool, then refrigerate it until well
chilled.

Ty much for the recipe! Though the olive oil will kinda kill the fat free thing at least I won't have to pay $5 a week to have the stuff!

LOL the sugar I'm not so worried about because all I have in my house is Splenda :) Bags of splenda for cooking/Iced Tea and packets for my coffee in the morning. I don't remember what real sugar is anymore

I love olive oil - tbsp a day to cook my chicken or whatever in. I love anagrams too, and that saying 'olive juice' silently looks like you're saying I Love You.

Seriously though, interesting that the name of the dressing is "Tangy Tomato no-oil Salad dressing" yet the recipe above calls for 2 tbsp. of just that.

Also, shouldn't you watch what ketchup (catsup?) you use? Many have much sugar in them already.
